bubbachumps
At the Belham we have an active Air Quality Group to look at implementing initiatives around improving air quality in and around the school. We are looking to team up with representatives from other local schools for a stronger collective voice for local lobbying and sharing of ideas. We have a few contacts already (Goose Green, Dog Kennel Hill, St John and St Clements)but we'd love to make new contacts at other local schools too. Please PM me if interested as we would like to set up an informal initial meeting in the next few weeks. Many thanksLouise Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190556-air-quality-around-schools/ Share on other sites
goosegreenpta
Hello there Louise? We at Goose Green School are very happy to be on board ? well done getting the schools together on this.? Strength in numbers!?We?d be more than happy to share the work that we have been doing on our Green Screen Project at one of your meetings.? The Green Screen is now in place doing its job if anyone wants to pop down for look.? You can see it all the way along our school boundary on Grove Vale.? The project has been neatly summarised for us in two videos:https://mobilane.co.uk/case-studies/green-screens-cleaner-safer-air-london-school/ (the film is part way down the page)https://we.tl/DAiHNy4jI5We are also considering other initiatives including the greening of our school entrance, an anti-idling campaign, internal air purification units and a walking bus scheme.? Our school eco-warriors have worked with Southwark on a walk to school mapping scheme.?We?d love to share our ideas and hear what others are up to.? We?d really love to hear how cycling could be made easier/safer.?Our experience so far has shown us how much the local councillors and MP support these initiatives (as you will see from the video of Helen Hayes? speech at our school), so we should keep them posted as to our collaboration.?Thank you, and really looking forward to the first meeting!?Friends of Goose Green School (FOGGS) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/190556-air-quality-around-schools/#findComment-1242807 Share on other sites
Friends@Bessemer
Hi!Bessemer Grange would love to join the initiative!? At school, we have been involved with launching the Southwark-wide anti-idling campaign, run regular play streets which close the street outside school to through traffic to allow children to play out and have a whole-school approach to encouraging active travel and ditching the car.? We have a very active cycling community and run cycling events and lessons throughout the year.? We would be very happy to share our experience of cycling initiatives as well as traffic reduction and air quality improvements. At the moment, we are working towards a school-time road closure outside the school every day to improve air quality in the playgrounds and to improve safety for children coming to and from school. We are also members of the Dulwich & Herne Hill Safe Routes to School forum:?http://dulwichsaferoutes.blogspot.co.uk/Please keep us in the loop on any meetings.
