Free bike maintenance May 3rd 5.30-7.30pm

Assuming Peckham Arch is still sheltering all-comers, Dr Bike will be under the Arch indexing gears, pumping up tyres, tightening brakes and giving wise advice on filthy chains (?clean it? would be a printable precis)

Nothing costs anything. The wise advice is naturally free. One professional mechanic and two first-class amateurs. Maps, chat, cycling gossip. I?m afraid there is sometimes a queue but they clear it quickly.

There must be more to it than that. Er, no there isn?t. We don?t make a profit. You don?t have to join anything, sign anything or do anything more than let the goodwill roll over you. Wave as you go by.

All these good deeds are funded by Southwark Cyclists not the council (no money) or Sustrans (ditto). We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign which campaigns for safer, more enjoyable cycling in London, pretty much as their name says. • Nikolay & team were fantastic from start to finish - really responsive, easy communication, explained what they would do and delivered on it, and crucially delivered high-quality work. We bought a house with very tired floorboards that had been covered up by carpet for a very (very) long time, with cracked floorboards, and big gaps between some of them - just generally dirty and grim-looking. Within 7 working days for three rooms, a corridor, and an entire staircase, the floor was sanded, some floorboards replaced, gaps filled in, and finished to a great colour and feel. We hesitated a long time between restoring the floor or just covering it up again with a new floor, but really glad we went down this route and found a great team to take care of it. It was also a very reasonable price for the amount of work done - would have been a nightmare to do ourselves without the right kit etc at the start, so glad we spent this money. I would highly recommend NN Floor Sanding based on my experience with them.
    • Is the Bishop still owned by the guy who started Meat Liquor and who annoyed all his ED neighbours during his house renovation?
