Moxon's Next Door Opens Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Went last night and enjoyed it. Excellent food and wine.

Won't be able to afford to go again for some time though. It was a birthday (not mine).

They very kindly put a candle on the lemon tart and gave us complimentary glasses of dessert wine.

The place was full, on a Tuesday night, and everybody seemed to be having a good time.

The service was friendly. They deserve to do well and I'm sure they will.

ETA: Oh, and having read the post above, nobody appeared to be looking at anybody else. No more than anywhere else, anyway. What a weird idea.

ETA again: Ignore the ETA above, as Redjam rightly points out below, I hadn't properly read the previous post - duh. sorry.

Yes Sue, but the 'elite' are like that - they make out like they are not watching and judging you, but in reality...

... and don't get me started on the hysteria - walking up Lordship Lane last night the atmosphere of hysteria was palpable. It would really have been quite disturbing for any of ED's few intelligent, decent, ethical residents who might have been passing by. The sight of the usual dim-witted poseurs jostling to be 'seen' getting ice cream next door to Moxons nearly put me off my gravel broth supper and would have deterred any right minded individual from venturing any further up LL to Moxons.

What actual planet do you live on?

Oh for the good old days before all these poseurs arrived in ED and you could have a good old fashioned punch up in one of them boozers in LL before having a chin wag with Mad Frankie Fraser in the hairdressers in North Cross Road. Frankie was cruel but he was fair.

The real world planet, you know the one most people who on this forum have no clue about?

People like you don?t live in the real world. If you genuinely believe some residents don?t attend these places for attention seeking purposes then you?re more ridiculous than I initially gave you credit for. ?Decent intelligent ethical residents?, get over yourself robbin. Full of BS as usual.

Louisa.

I?ve covered this topic before. Not everyone does it, some people just want a meal out. But it does seem that a disproportionate number of local residents enjoy the limelight of a new restaurant opening, including being sat in visible view of passers-by. Sorry if that?s offensive.

Yeh, sorry, you're right. I read it too quickly, but if I edit my post again to take the original edit out, your post won't make sense :))

Yes, you have. At great bloody length.

So why do you feel the need to start again with your ridiculous posts every time a new place opens?

I don't know why you bother to stay in East Dulwich when you seem to hate the people who live here so much.

Not to worry, there?s already a lot of posts on this thread that don?t make sense :)

Excuse me Sue, someone else raised this issue, not me.

Actually, numerous people did.

Why is it so uncomfortable for some on here to admit their attention seeking? No one is saying it?s a bad thing per se, but admitting it shouldn?t be a problem. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your meal.

I will be heading off to McDonalds later and couldn?t two hoots who?s looking at me whilst I tuck into my Big Mac and chips.

Ah yes. Would that be your mate Dulwich Fox's charming post on page 2 of the thread?

"There will be the Usual E.D. Elite reporting back after their expensive experience at this new venue.

There were a few local business owner 'Faces' when I walked past last night at 10.30pm

Other eateries are available in the area."

Nice post on a thread started by the restaurant owners, wasn't it?

Can't see anything else "raised" until your post on page 3: "But as Foxy hinted at previously, I shall wait for the usual ED hysteria to die back a bit. I?ll allow the ED elite to partake in some ?look at me? antics before I venture in."

Sue please just stop this. It?s beyond funny now.

I?m not suggesting you went along just to be seen, but what I would add is that you could have waited like most people do 2/3 months in before you booked a table. Why book one now when you know it?s fresh and everyone is watching you go in? That?s all I?m saying. If you enjoy the publicity and the limelight thatsfair enough, own it. Don?t shy away and accuse me of being strange for having that opinion of people.

Louisa.

Because it was my partner's birthday and he wanted to go there as it was a new place we had never been to before.

You really are beyond parody.

ETA: Who is this "everyone" watching people go in? FFS. For some reason the word "Troll" keeps springing to mind, I can't think why.

Rather than just admit that some people do visit certain establishments to be seen doing so, you have to accuse me of trolling. It?s pathetic Sue.

Some people like attention seeking, nothing wrong with that. Personally, I?d rather pop in when all the fuss has died back.

    • You can always check when they registered on the forum, if you are suspicious. But I recommended Aria, and it certainly wasn't my only post on here, and it was a genuine recommendation. ETA: And he didn't ask me to make it, to the best of my recollection. But even if he had, many local tradespeople ask people to post on here if they are happy with the work that has been done.
    • I am not a patient at this practice, but surely it is more sensible to have an initial  phone discussion, as often the GP wouldn't need to see someone face to face unless they actually needed to physically examine them? This then leaves the available face to face appointments for patients who need them. And if during  the phone call the GP felt you needed examining, then arrangements could be made for a face to face. If you feel your ailment is such that you will definitely need to be physically examined, can you not explain that to the receptionist?
    • Give Labour a chance, they've only been in government for a short time, and they inherited a mess! As regards the notice boards, to the best of my recollection they were originally intended as community notice boards, and certainly not for advertising local businesses (who would decide which businesses  should have the limited space on the boards, anyway?) East Dulwich may have become more gentrified since the boards were first introduced, but that surely doesn't mean they should now be completely  taken over for the benefit of  the "middle classes", to the exclusion of everybody else? As  NewWave says, surely these people have other ways to find out about groups and events of interest to them, which the "non middle classes" may not have access to, and even if they did may not be able to afford them. Several people including myself have complained to councillors about the state of the noticeboards in the past.  I think one of the issues is that they were originally maintained by local volunteers, who may have either moved out of the area or lost interest - or given up in despair when the boards were flypostered and/or vandalised. I completely  agree that the boards should be used for information about not for profit organisations in the area, but if regular maintenance can't be provided and/or they continue to be vandalised, then I think it would be better if they were removed altogether.
