Is it really a counter-argument tho? Isn't it more of a supporting argument?


Wenger is hands on but I imagine he leaves the money stuff well alone, other than demanding to know, bottom line, how much he has available


The thought of losing to the third rival in a row tonight doesn't bear thinking about, but on balance, he is doing the right thing.


There IS another question about is he getting the most out of who he has, but that's different from the consensus which is "Wenger should have bought X Y and/or Z".


We aren't broke but we don't want to spend stupid money on the one or two big names who could make a difference and come to England - so the two clubs above us have either massive resources or have massively overspent. I really am ok with that you know?

I think football clubs have been badly managed for decades and foolishly we don't appear to have learnt the lessons that some of the Italian and Spanish clubs had been given in recent years regarding finances. It's a matter of when not if more clubs go tits up.

Yes, we'd all love to see United go under. That would be lovely. At least then City would be certain to finish in the top six and Arsenal would have a chance of winning a trophy...oh no, hang on, for that to happen Liverpool and Chelsea would have to go as well. Back to the drawing board. :))

But it is an interesting mirror of the wider economy before it went tits up. The warning signs are there and the one or two voices of caution are castigated for lacking ambition


If the papers or fans take Wenger to task about not getting the best out of the team he has assembled, that seems fair enough


But the constant cry to buy buy buy? it just seems a bit detached from reality

Isn't there an element of Arsenal just going through the motions then?


I tend to dislike Arsenal less nowadays as they have less players that can really stick it to anyone. Arsenal reached an all time low with the attack on Ruud after the missed penalty but any Aresnal player have the balls to do that to an opposing player now? Lost their bite! How do you get that back?

Would not wish anyone to go through what we have been going through. Really could not give a toss about being a premier team or not - have had my day in the sun. Just want to have a club and go back to the days when football was fun!

Latest is a certain Mr B Fry to take over as owner / manager. Now that would be a laugh!!

Yes indeed, aren't Pool already in the mire, and if Abramovich walks away to find a new toy? If I'm right have MAnUre won anything yet this season? Are they likely to? Maybe the couldntcareless cup, but thats about it. Forget the Prem and you certainly won't win the Champs league. Oh well back to the drawing board.

No, I wouldn't agree it's going through the motions. There is enough talent on the Arsenal side and enough weaknesses on the other sides to make it POSSIBLE. Just very hard


That's the challenge and is hardly going through the motions


As for having players with bite and bottle - we definitely need more of that but when we had it, we were, as you allude to, much less "popular" - I can't get upset with any player giving Van N a go tho..


I actually thought at the start of this season we showed a lot more bottle - we were first into challenges and didn't shirk from the physical side. But we have lost some of that. I think we are suffering a combination of


1) every team has a slump during a season. usually

2) a particularly hard string of games. Boo hoo I know, but it coincides with #1

3) lack of winning experience


None of those things are fatal but #3 could be the worst and we could collapse as the season goes on.

Of course everything Sandpit says is gospel as is what most ManUre fans say. As far I'm concerned Chavski will win prem and Mancs won't win Champs league. Time will tell if I'm wrong.

I kid you not. I'm sure there are plenty of Arsenal fans out there that would have quite liked to have won the "Couldntcareless Cup", or the FA Cup come to think of it but of course Arsene Wenger and Atila couldn't care less. They'd rather qualify for the Champions League and still win nothing.

At least we qualify for it each year and as for Spurs, remind me, when did you last win the league. Spurs fans would celebrate a win against us as if they've won the world cup. We've not won the league since 2004, the other winners have been Chavksi and Manure, is it any wonder we don't consider Spuds as our serious rivals, and haven't done so for years.

Truth hurts eh. 61, never gain. It must be boring for you to face the each season knowing full well that you will be nowhere near winning the title again. I think you'll find your the one that's bitten here like a rabid dog old boy.

      I also recently waited 30 minutes to speak to someone at HMRC. First of all, they had indicated the wait time from the outset. Secondly, it is a very busy time for them,  with  the 31 January deadline looming. Thirdly, I might be confusing them with some other organisation, but I think they gave other options including for them to phone you back if you didn't want to hang on. Anyway, my main point is that I don't know whether the person I spoke to was working from home or not, but there was no background noise, she was incredibly sympathetic and helpful, and to my utter disbelief she extended the deadline for me to the end of March 😮  The reason was that I couldn't do my online return due to  my laptop meltdown, and had been told repair could take up to 28 working days. She thought that a deadline of the end of February might not be long enough  I was fully expecting to be told that it was my own fault for not getting the return in before. So credit where credit's due, basically. I've previously found HMRC staff very helpful in patiently  explaining in simple language stuff in the rules which I couldn't understand. As for working from home, I'm long retired from working for others, but I have both on occasion worked well into the night/over weekends to meet critical project deadlines,  and also on occasion skived. But in the first job I was being paid a lot, and in the second job I wasn't 🤣

      I can't help with pinpointing the source of the bass, but I have found playing white noise helps to mask unwanted sounds, and it's also quite soothing (in a way). I ask Alexa to play white noise, which must make a nice  change for her from asking what the temperature and/or weather is outside, or asking her to sing the Doggy Song, which is usually all she does (present from my brother). But probably you can get a white noise app on your phone. Have you contacted Southwark Noise Control (?) who may be able to trace where the bass is coming from?
