I find it amusing that people accuse the likes of Benitez as lacking class in comparison to old purple hooter, given his track record. Foul and abusive language towards officials and his own players, caught on camera if I remember rightly berating and swearing at an official, is just one example of conduct hardly befitting a so called knight of the realm. In the past its been said, mostly by the media, that this demonstrates his passion and a will to win, yet if another managers dares to do the same, he is castigated. Benitez like every manager is trying to do the best for his club.......whichever that might be at the time. Most of them have a very short lifespan in that role.If you expect a manager to have manners like the Queen then you are simply being biased against Fergie because you support another club. You would think differently if he had been Arsenal's manager for 26 years and brought you 13 titles. You won't admit this of course.

Are you for real?? The guy has acted like a prick on numerous occasions and you want me to admire him? I have more admiration for Benitez than purple hooter. You asked me why I don't like the guy there's two shining examples, acting like some jumped up dictator trying get someone from the press banned because he didn't like the question. Classy right?

I've copied this from a Spurs forum on FB and it sums up pretty much how I feel.


"I've heard an awful lot of bollocks talked today about "winning psychology" and the idea that there is something essential or definitive that meant Arsenal were always going to qualify ahead of Spurs. Of course it's frustrating to have it happen again, but, over a whole season, when the difference at the end is a single point, and when you consider the million little events that have won and lost points here and there, the idea that the final positions somehow proved that Arsenal had an indefinable winner-ness that Spurs didn't is, well, not supportable. For one thing, they haven't won a trophy for ages, which is not the behaviour of winners. Of course I'm gutted, but I'm not embarrassed or ashamed on behalf of Spurs. It was a very close thing, and, over the course of the season, we were a couple of points off qualifying. Not bad for a team that hasn't been collecting Champions' League money for nearly two decades or recently been bought by a bored billionaire. At the beginning of this season, we'd just got a new manager and lost three of our best players, and we ended up with more points than the previous season. Not bad, I'd say. Ultimately disappointing, but then we didn't necessarily expect to be this close to the Champions' League places so soon into AVB's period as manager and with a record points total in the PL.


On the other hand, how much longer can Arsenal maintain their record of just scraping into the Champions' League every season without winning anything? How exciting it must be for their fans at the end of every campaign, wondering whether they can avoid sliding out of the top four. It's a bit like being one of those teams that regularly struggles with relegation but always just manages to stay up, I suppose."


I would like to add that I'm so happy with AVB and what he's achieved, he's tactically brave and takes risks. I love the way he colludes and consolidates with Stefan on the touchline and is not not afraid to make 2 or even 3 substitutions in order to correct wrongs. Please don't forget that in previous seasons, when Spurs go behind we would generally lose the match, not so with AVB. I'm amazed at the number of times this season we've gone behind and won, this was unheard of in the Spurs of old.


So fuck Ar$enal, they'll get knocked out of the CL again and be battling for 4th place along with us. But if we can keep Bale, ditch the dead wood and buy a striker or two, next season we'll definitely be up there again. Man U, Chelsea and Man City will all have new managers and we'll have the stability. COYS!!"

If you can keep Bale is the key thing. Lets be honest, without him, you'd have been well below 5th this season. I do think you're a team on the up though, and a couple of good signings could make all the difference next year.


Also agree that Arsenal seem to be a team in a very odd kind of limbo.

What Spurs need is a new left back (I can only wish for Leighton Baines who'll probably go to Man Utd if he leaves Everton), a new creative midfielder (Moutinho's been on our radar an while now) and two top class forwards, at least one of which we should have bought in January.

How sour are those grapes? Sums up why I hate that club. I wasn't going to put a comment on here about coming fourth as I don't believe, like many Gooners, contrary to popular misconception, that it equates to a trophy. But you know what, Spuds got their highest ever total in the PL and came 5th, and think they've had a decent season. Their best squad for many seasons, and still 5th, our worst season and squad for a long time and STILL above them. And the wanker that wrote that piece says we haven't won a trophy in years, yet the choking cockerels last won the title in 1961. In conclusion, Fcuk off totteringham, you'll always be in our shadow. Doubtless I'll get some stick for this but I don't give a Bale, sorry, Monkeys.
