Yes like the odious Bentley, and the equally big headed Pennant.

Looks like Beckford might be off to Newcastle for ?3million though. Personally, if we get that much, I'd bite Mike Ashley's hand off. He's worth nowhere near that.

He'll be far more use at Newcastle, they've still got Barton, so a trained windscreen fitter/replacer is always handy.

Apropo of this (sort of). Did anyone else hear one of the commentators on 5 live the other night talking about how he was off at the Under 21's championship and his heavily pregnant wife decided to tear up half the carpets (nest building anyone?). She couldn't find anyone to fit new ones so said commentator was bemoaning the fact and Garry Birtles went round and did it for him! Twice winner of the European Cup and carpet fitter in a previous life. That's when footballers were proper!

I also remember a couple of years ago listening to an interview with a non-league manager who had led his side to the 3rd round of the FA Cup. He said there was nothing more stressful then driving along the high street and seeing your star stirker up a ladder cleaning windows. :))

Is it just me but it would already seem that young Jack Wilshire is already heading in that direction. I think the term is now called Bentleyitis.

Bentley's a good player. He's got a good first touch, is skilful, has good balance and a good passing range, both short and long. The problem is he's played out of position on the flanks. He doesn't have the pace to beat his man and get to the byline. He should be played centre mid where he can pull the strings and utilise his passing to the full.
That's bollocks. He aspired to be the new David Beckham. Beckham's got no pace yet he plays on the wing and has never had to beat his man to get a cross in. Agreed, he has all the attributes needed to be a good player but he doesn't work hard enough whether being played in the middle or on the flanks. The trouble with Bentley is he is not prepared to put in the hard work to improve his game. His ego is bigger than his talent.
Bentley HAD talent, whether or not he still has or is prepared to work to fulfil his potential is highly questionable,, which is why we kicked him out the door. That and the fact that he has the tendency to alienate himself from his fellow players. My eldest son has a mate who is Jamie O'hara's cousin, Jamie has told them that Bentleys attitude is very off hand and he treats the rest of the team and backroom staff with disdain.

Probably because nobody wants him. Jami O'Hara on the other hand has a great attitude and a decent player.

Exactly.

Yes, a good player. Works hard with the talent he has unlike Bentley. He's gone on loan to get more games and experience under his belt. With the squad we have at Spurs he wasn't going to get many games this season especially with the arrival of Nico Kranjcar

Get off Bentley's back. I've seen many players who have revitalized their careers under different managers. Let's face it, he doesn't get many opportunities under Harry and when he does he can't afford to have any slip ups or else he'll get dropped. I though Harry was a master of man management and the arm round the shoulder. Seems it doesn't extend to Bentley. You ve soon forgot about the great goal he scored against Old Vinegar face's bunch of foreigners last season. Call yourself a Spurs fan.

We suffered from a whole chunk of our squad believing their own hype the seasons after promotion and the only entertaining FA Cup final since the first world war.

All have now gone and most have learned the hard way that a nice comment from Ferguson does not a champions league final playing career make. They all play for things like Villa and Fulham and Birmingham, none are at the top four despite thinking themselves bigger than our little (yes cute ground keef) club.

I said good riddance at the time because talented or no these people upset dressing rooms, but I wish no ill will to them, reo-coker for instance is maturing nicely now and will feature in England midfields in his late twenties.

    • I'm surprised at how relaxed everyone appears to be about the works. They've been designed for: “capturing about 6 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of surface water and releasing it very slowly” in the park.  This has been done at taxpayer expense, to mitigate an increased risk of houses flooding, caused in no small part by the failure of Thames Water to invest in a drainage and sewage system in dire need of upgrading / modernising, and unable to cope. Thames Water have paid out millions in bonuses and dividends since privatisation, run up huge debts, and are now on the brink of bankruptcy. Meanwhile we are paying for their under investment in the drainage and sewage system.  The park will likely be waterlogged more frequently and for longer.
