Please correct me if I'm wrong nut isn't the author of the piece a Liverpool fan? If so he must have written this with a heavy heart but at lease he doesn't allow sentiment to cloud his judgement. He's spot on.

I guess for the match going fans it is a bit different, as they will look at this season as one with two or three trips to Wembley, and one or two cups won, which doesn't look bad at all. As one said to me, "no one remembers league position unless you finish 1st".

That is a fair point, and they are the ones spending their hard earned money, and commuting a large part of their lives to supporting their team, whilst the likes of me just watch in the pub. I do think though that they'd find it hard to read that and see the truth in it. The cup runs are undoubtedly papering over the gaping cracks. And lets not forget that Cardiff easily could have won the league cup if luck had been on their side.

Liverpool have some very good youngsters but I can't see the team being premiership contenders in the next five years.

Teams like Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are widening the gap between Liverpool because of their youth policy and wealthy backers. That's the problem, whether you agree with it or not, Liverpool will always play catch up to the big five. As Liverpool improves, the other teams will as well from their position of strength.

Also, Liverpool were fortunate enough to beat the mighty* Cardiff in the mickey mouse cup. But there are still big names left in the FA cup to win it. Is the mickey mouse cup good enough for the Liverpool fans? Liverpool are not a top five side and so will not gain revenue from Champion League games and bolster their squad accordingly in the future. Realistically, Dalglish needs to be given five years to develop their young players before Liverpool becomes a top side again.

* sarcasm ;-)

United got lucky last night not conceding a penalty. I wonder how long Welbeck is going to get to prove or otherwise he is up to scratch. He just doesn't impress me as being exceptional.Meanwhile last season's leading scorer doesn't get a game. And what a talented player Berbi is.

Well done chelsea. Honestly didnt think you had a chance but i think you proved most of us wrong!

I know this is like trying to find a needle in a haystack BUT i really want to go the FA cup final and was wandering if there was any chance someone in the big ED could help me out? Willing to spend upto ?100, maybe more. Preferably in the spurs end!

Thanks.

The words FA Cup Final ticket and ?100 are never heard in the same sentence unless the sentence runs like this " you want an FA CUp Final ticket for ?100, are you serious????" B)

;-)

Very funny - Harry tells it slightly differently in his autobiog., that he told Futre to fuck off and didn't care if he never saw him again and that Futre came crawling back days later with his manager and lawyer, offered the cash first then offered Moncur the sweetener but that Moncur didn't give a monkey's what number he wore so all they had to do was square it with the FA.

Then - a little later - after seeing Futre, Dumitrescu and Raducioiu standing on the halfway line watching while WH's goal was being bombarded by Sunderland in the cold and wet he realised it probably wasn't going to work out.

Villa should be safe, Wolves, QPR and Wigan are gone. Probaly famous last words.

    • Thank you, Pugwash. That's really useful information. Do you know who was responsible for the locks and keys, or which council department? Could you PM me if you don't want to put someone's personal details on here?  It may save me having to speak to Monica. Thanks.
    • Does anybody know why? Trees aren't cut down for no reason. There must have been something wrong with it (I hope that was the reason). A child was recently killed and another one injured when a tree fell in a park (not in this area). It isn't always obvious from the outside when a tree is diseased or whatever, and I imagine the council would give safety considerations priority when deciding what to do, if there was any doubt at all.
    • It looks like they have cut it down completely now 😭
    • Different people will be  involved within Thames Water. The people dealing with the leaks aren't the people encouraging less water usage. How many people have reported the Barry Road leak? By what channels? What response have they had? When we had a leak in our road which meant we had no water, several people reported it, there was good communication with TW, they explained why they couldn't come out immediately (other urgent jobs elsewhere in the area) , kept  in touch with us and fixed the leak within a reasonable timescale (hours). Someone from TW also contacted me later to make sure my water was back. But does Thames Water know about it? They aren't psychic (I presume). If nobody reports it, I also presume they won't even know the leaks are  there, unless they have some kind of central monitoring system which tells them when there are leaks in the system. To make it clear, I am not defending Thames Water as a company, which I think should never have been privatised.  But there are some things they can't be blamed for (old and disintegrating water pipe system in London) and some they can (possibly, lack of sufficient staff to deal with leaks, maybe due to trying to save money to give their shareholders more. But this is just surmise on my part - I know nothing about Thames Water).
