The thing about that is that Ireland were fortunate to be playing France at that stage. They had previoulsy got a very very dubious penalty which got them to that stage, so lets not forget that before we go the route of accusing others of cheating. He who lives in glass houses and all that >>>>>

You obviously don't agree and if you're Irish all I can say is get over it. I watch my club week in week out, not my country, nor do I spend time, money and emotion following the fortunes of my country, so take a wild guess and guess where my loyalties lie. Club versus country is a nonsense.

All said and done though. I bet he can still do the business. Watching MOTD last night Arsenal's finishing was woeful. They could have had a hatful in the first half and it would have been game over. I think it's very astute of Wenger to bring him back even if it's only for a few months. I remember when Jurgen Klinsman came back to Spurs and he saved us from relegation with his goals and his vast experience. It can only rub off on the younger players and they can learn from him.

I'm neither gooner nor Irish but know those who are and was only wondering if the wave of anger against TH at the time (by some Ir Gnrs) was in the safe and certain knowledge that he could be hated as he was no longer one of their own and whether this recent turn of events had left any with words to eat?


I remember having to eat a sackful when previous Gooner hero Ian Wright signed for WH - the cheating, goal-hanging, over-rated clogger became a talented, graceful, prolific goal scorer with the instincts of a world class striker almost overnight.

Obviously I think the guy is a god, but lets try and be objective here. Did the nation that had the very very very dodgy penalty awarded against them, which gave the Irish the opportunity which they duly converted, gave them the chance to face France, make as much fuss as the Irish did about the Henry incident? Do they also continually refer to it in the same way that the English do about the Maradonna incident (lets not forget the little swan dive Michael "the bench warmer" Owen went in for against Argentina some years later eh?) Do the Brazilians carp on about the way Pele was disgracefully kicked out of a world cup decades back? If they do, then I would repeat my previous advice to move on. But I'm not sure they are that bothered.

Have to admit he's gone great so far.


I was at White Hart Lane tonight and the Baggies parked the proverbial bus in front of our goal. I knew wouldn't be easy and was nervous as hell before the game and would have settled for the one-nil. Three more points in the bag though. Anyway, we play our game in hand against Everton next week. Win that and I think we can safely assume we won't be relegated this season.

I have to agree Sunderland are a different looking team now! Martin O'Neill - awesome!


Sunderland play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next and having just looked are a massive 9/1 to win! I fancy a couple of quid on a Manchester City repeat against a troubled Chelsea team!
