a term used in greeting between one minority to another

greeting used by a black or spanish person from a ghetto back ground

a greeting used from a minority to greet a friend some of the friends can be white if there from a ghetto background and note to white people dont say it back unless ur from a black or spanish decent

Before reading this (Urban Dictionary) I wondered if there was anything in Latin American Spanish that might excuse Suarez. I'm not saying this does (assuming he used the word), but I wonder if Evra mistook the context in which it was used? Clutching at straws probably.

It's hard to believe, if the accustaions are true, that such behavious still exists, but it is still rife in places like Eastern Europe. On the the flip side of the coin, waving an imaginary card around is not like to win much support from anybody. Not as despicable as racial abuse but unwelcome nontheless.
What Evra may have done is immaterial when Suarez is alleged to be using racist language. The football authorities have worked hard to stamp out racism from the game. If Suarez is found guilty and it should be easy to prove using video evidence and a lip reader then a lengthy ban (minimum 12 months) is in order. This sort of behaviour cannot be tolerated in the modern game.

I've not suggested for one moment that the "alleged" racism, and let's not forget it is just that at the moment, but I don't like to see cheating, diving, nor do I like to see the imaginary card being brandished. All forms of bad sportsmanship.

Brandishing the imaginary card is just a reminder to the referee to make sure he/she follows the rules of the game. No different to a victim reporting an alleged criminal matter to a Police Officer.

I'll bet Suarez, the cheating scum bag, has branded imaginary cards in his career.

"Please Mr Policeman, that man hit me, honest he did, quick, put the cuffs on him and if he struggles make sure to thump him, go on....."

Likely to happen if the offender is Black and the victim is White.

I'm afraid it seems you're ill informed of Suarez's history, Otta. Your stereotype claim is without foundation.

Evra has been a pro in this country for many years. It doesn't make sense for someone of Evra's ilk to make something up.

I applaud Evra for making a stand against racism and to threaten Evra with punishments for reporting such an incident is just as bad as the original offence itself.

A Norwich fan was banned for life for using the same racist word on his twitter account. I hope this sets the precedent for Suarez's punishment if found guilty.

I'm of the view that it happened, as I don't think I've ever seen Evra wound up to that extent before. He wasn't acting. Suarez has some crazy history behind him. United don't seem to want to push it though. Fergie realises that if he didn't distance himself from this being a club thing as opposed to it being personal, it would lead to poorer relations between the clubs.

If there was racism, I applaud Evra too, and I never even hinted that he should be punished for raising it. I said he should be punished if it turns out to be lies.

The stereotype comment was directed at your comment about the police bashing black people. That sort of thing has no place on a thread about football thanks.

Regarding Suarez, you're right, I know nothing of his past, and as I've already said, if guilty, then a severe punishment should be handed down. Having a past doesn't necessarily mean he's guilty of racism though, and I don't believe in condemning people before the evidence has been properly reviewed.

It seems, Otta, that you live a sheltered life. I've seen the Police behaved badly towards Black people and frankly hearing your poorly informed statements just makes me wonder whether you find the issue between black people and the police difficult to comprehend.

Moving on, Suarez is not exactly known for his honesty on the pitch and concern that Liverpool has chosen to support this vile person by claiming Evra had made up his allegation.

I've never said Suarez was guilty of racism but with video evidence and witness statements from Evra's team mates does not bode well for the Suarez's cause.

    • Apart from being yet another eyesore in our lovely park the track is going to be 5 metres wide, that’s wider than my living room! By the time this is installed it will be too late for people to object. This must be rethought, even more of our park is being given over to GALA. The council didn’t factor in HGV access when they planned the flood alleviation works and now they expect park goers to suffer further. Complaints might help, worth a try but needs to be before the consultation ends on Feb 10th
