Sandperson
I have the Charlton prog recorded (I did watch a bit of it but it was on a bit late) and I have just watched the Munich drama 'United' which I thought was really well done. Laddy Muck
I watched that too. Again, very emotive stuff (and - as you say - well done).Well, here's to United (and to Stoke) on Saturday.*waves red rag at BR* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/334/#findComment-489184 Share on other sites
srisky
I'm new to this football thread but it's great! Is Crouchy planning on playing for Man City next season??! After getting us into the Chumps League at the end of last season, he comitted 2 inexplicable fouls to be sent of early at the Bernabeu leading to our exit from the Chumps league and then scored (once again) the deciding goal at the Eastlands. Ah well, in the end we drew too many games and threw away too many leads but that's much better than the dream I had last night that we were relegated! Jah Lush
Considering how many players Spurs had out injured last night I thought we gave a really good account of ourselves despite Crouch's own goal. We were by far the better team, had most of the possession and created more chances. I can't see us beating Liverpool on Sunday on their current form though and the fact that I think we've only won there twice in the last 100 years but quite frankly I'd rather Liverpool got the poisoned chalice that is the Europa League. Alan Medic
That's exactly what it is with too many games and Thursday football leading to Sunday football. Can a club opt out of it if they choose? Annasfield
We were in the Europa this season, got to the 1/4 finals (having played 4 qualifying matches too) and there is an additional knock out round in comparison to the CL and we haven't done too badly. A trophy is a trophy at the end of the day. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/334/#findComment-489192 Share on other sites
Alan Medic
It's almost an extra half a season's worth of matches required to win the Europa. It can't be especially worthwhile financially (can it?) and for some clubs it's stretching their resources too much. Also an awful lot of uninteresting matches on TV IMO. kpc
Having already qualified for the Europa League, part of me is looking forward to our first European encounter since I was, er, one (Irtysh Pavlodar in the draw please, though it will probably be Llanelli) and part of me is dreading the inconvenience of the whole thing with the odd kick off times, the plethora of Sunday games and trying to work out which Ryanair destination is nearest to Suduva Marijampole. kpc
At the moment I'm more desperate for the one point that will probably guarantee our PL survival. If Fulham's defence play the way they did the other night, we should be able to sneak a goal and hang on for a plucky draw. SCSB79
We did the job we needed to do last night... lets hope Hearts can help us out tonight so I don't end up facing the real possibility of a heart attack if we have to win on Sunday!Brilliant to see 50,000 sending off Walter last night. Yes you set up plenty of chances but the finish was woeful. At least our lads had a rest, we played as though it was the training ground. Play like that on Saturday and Stoke will hurt us good style. My only conclusion is that Mancini was sure a point would be easily attainable over 3 games. Can't see you beating the Red Di er Liverpool Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/334/#findComment-489198 Share on other sites
mockney piers
The future's bleakI don't like it when people reaffirm commitment, it's usually done before bolting. Either way we've tough financial straits ahead, the silver lining(ish) being our wage bill is going to plummet!! ????
Good article Mockney and too true. Did anyone read the article by Lee Dixon in the Indie where he went to A West Ham training session and said what an utter shambles it was? Avram Grant is a man functioning way, way way above his ability at West Ham let alone Chelsea. It will be one of football's mysteries how he ever got where he did. Anyway, I fancy an outing to Palace next season if you're up for it M? mockney piers
Too right, I was actually telling the mocklet this morning how I'll be taking him to Palace to hear the roar of the crowd and watch some good football.Which I had to temper a little, considering that it's Selhurst Park, that the crowd will probably murmur rather than roar, and the football will probably be dire, but he's still looking forward to it....not that he had the foggiest idea what I was talking about.A long winded way of saying, absolutely. maxxi
Last time I went to S.Park was 1999 WH v Wimbledon - Hartson had just signed for them and most of the fans in the away end spent the afternoon laughing at one hapless fan who was still proudly wearing his (obviously pretty new) WH shirt with HARTSON on the back. Well it WAS quiet - and i don't remember any goals either.
