I see paddy was one of the players who had to pull them apart. Oh dear, can only be good for us, that and the fact that Silva, and Balotelli are both injured and won't take part in the game.

Charlton have just got new owners which presumably has influenced things. Denis Wise tipped to take over.

Palace after a new manager of course as well, can't say I enjoyed the trip to Millwall on Saturday, (always a lovely bunch down there)the players didn't show much fighting spirit in support of Burley. Beat Preston yesterday in a very poor game with Steffen Iverson getting the winner and man of the match on his debut.

Not sure who I want as Palace manager. If we were in a better position would like to see Sean O'Driscoll or Eddie Howe but will settle for Sir Steve until the end of the season.

I used to go to Charlton a lot, and they're my second team. It's all gone very wrong. They dropped out of the prem in the worst possible year, and lost out on the big parachute payments. As a result, things went from bad to worse. Can't see them being anywhere near the prem again for a long time. The Valley is a lovely ground to watch a bit of football.

I also used to go there a lot, and it is a nice place to go. I thought they'd turned the corner after they redeveloped the ground and got into the Prem, very sad to see whats happened to them.

From the minute by minute on the Guardian last night, Fulham vs West Brom, even has a local relevance although I nearly put it in the aspirational supermarket thread.

"Fulham corner. Hangeland rises well in the middle and is basically punched in the face by Carson, who misses the ball and instead clumps his huge Norwegian head. This is apparently fine though. Back down the other end West Brom carve out a glorious chance for Brunt between Dorrans and Odemwingie but mysteriously he fails to get a shot in and it's cleared. Dennis Johns is bringing down the system from the inside: "This is the most middle class thing I've ever heard anyone say: I was in Stoke Newington the other day (I wish it had been East Dulwich, but that would have been too perfect) and I heard a young lad of about 5 or 6 say to his mum, "Mummy what are baked beans?" She pondered for a moment and replied, "Well, they're a bit like gnocchi." And he accepted that."

Sorry Jah, and Keef, but why is there this amazing faith being put in Roy Hodgson? I really don't understand it.

He has experience of big clubs (Inter Milan for one) has been an international manager, won trophies and league titles around Europe (OK Switzerland) and took a small club (Fulham) to their highest ever position in the their history (First Division/Premiership) and got them to a final of a major European trophy beating top teams like Juventus along the way. Anything else Mac while you're at it? Or are you still peeved that your beloved Martin O'Neill didn't get the job?

    • Apart from being yet another eyesore in our lovely park the track is going to be 5 metres wide, that’s wider than my living room! By the time this is installed it will be too late for people to object. This must be rethought, even more of our park is being given over to GALA. The council didn’t factor in HGV access when they planned the flood alleviation works and now they expect park goers to suffer further. Complaints might help, worth a try but needs to be before the consultation ends on Feb 10th
    • It is absolutely real, I walked past the site, complete with car and trashed wall, at about 2pm this afternoon.
    • Oh ok, I'm even more confused now then. Have you seen the discussion on the dangerous driving thread?
    • Sue - I promise you that was no fake photo, not sure that I'm even capable to that.  I took the picture about 12:15 today.
