Well he was FROM Manchester

Funnily enough I agree about Collymore - for a bloke who I'd always marked down as a tool, he's made me think again. I also like Dury and.....unfashionably, Lawrenson. Green's a cliche, Motson was well well past his sell buy date and MOTD crew are generally far too chummy and close to the players IMO, although Dixon shows some promise.

Chiles great on MOTD 2 but not so good on ITV so far but his panel don't help him.

Beglin - too critical of players and dull

Green - too critical of players, referees, managers, traffic, weather etc etc was much better years ago

Collymore - shouts too much and if you followed his opinions over the course of a season he always contradicts himself

Enjoy listening to Pearce (now he has toned down) John Murray and John Campion is OK - and Nevin and Marcotti.

Still enjoy listening to Jimmy Armfield - he's comfy, warm, reassuring, like listening to the football with your grandad sat by the fire. Like Peter Jones and Bryan Butler he'lll be missed when he's gone.

Neville has done TV before and was pretty good although surprise, suprise he didn't always know when to shut up.

Murphy, spot on! esp Arnfield.

Just to add about Colin Murray. I did my utmost to dislike him, professional kopite etc... but unfortunately I think he's really good, asks questions from the fans' perspective. The Friday night prog on 5 live with Nevin and Groves is fantastic, a breadth of fresh air.

On tele though he seems intent on being slightly irreverent, probably to make his mark, definitely better on radio, for now.
