ruffers
Watched it, fell asleep shortly before the end.In a more considered version of the post this replaces I thought most of the new ones did OK ish, was particularly impressed with Young and Johnson (although I would say that). Dawson doesn't convince me though and did nothing last night to change my mind. Jah Lush
Oh he wasn't that bad, debut and all that but he didn't exactly cover himself in glory I'll grant you that. Thought Jakielka looked a better bet at centre half though they weren't exactly up against it were they?Gerrard only got to play his normal game when Lampard came off at half-time and more so when Rooney was substituted. He rescued what could have been a very embarrassing defeat with two superb goals.Rooney though has turned into the most arrogant petulant little cunt. Once again I thought he was crap last night and the sarcastic wave he gave to the crowd as he was hauled off will not win him any friends amongst the England fans. Peckhamgatecrasher
If Bristol City can't beat Millwall with James in goal, they must be pretty pants, can't blame him for jumping ship.Maybe Crystal Palace are looking for a bootboy. 'bout now
I'm not sure who gave the most petulant display last night, Rooney or Capello. It looked almost as though the players got their wish to play a different formation and Capello was determined to sulk through the game.thought Gibbs, A Johnson and Jagielka did OK but the opposition weren't exactly electric.Dawson reminds me a little of David Gower, in that he always looks slightly embarrassed. Jah Lush
That he may be red devil but he can certainly play a bit too. Along with Tevez I thought he was City's best player last year and Steven Ireland is a very good player too, Player Of The Year for them the season before last - another of which they want to gid rid of and Spurs are interested in both of them but they don't want to sell to Spurs. Tossers!I think Citeh have paid way over the odds for some quite mediocre players; David Villa aside, none of whom have any experience in the Premiership. I can't see them breaking in the top four, can you? red devil
That's someone in the IT dept on a wind up, probably infiltrated by a Bluenose...I think Barca are more concerned with a direct replacement for Yaya 'I didn't sign for the money' Toure...who ever signs Ozil will be getting a real bargain though if the quoted figures of ?8-10m are true... ruffers
Like a lot of blues I'd rather Bellamy was staying but if it's true he's not had a conversation with Mancini for 6 months then I don't blame him. Having said that we'd be mad to sell him to a rival, Spuds especially. Ireland is one of the biggest victims of what's happened at Eastlands and I've previously posted elsewhere about my frustration that Mancini just doesn't know what to do with him. Unfortunately we seem to have just broken him and I think he'd be better off somewhere else, maybe Arsenal although that still hits the 'rival' issue. I'd rather have him in our squad than Milner though, and can't for the life of me work out how he could be seen by anyone as a potential makeweight in a deal for him.Nice to see us described as a classless rabble though for trying to catch up by spending over a couple of years what others have spent over a few years, what would you like us to do out of interest? Jah Lush
Just goes to show how far you've come when you speak of rivals. Not so long ago it was probably Stockport County. ruffers
True, and it's that fact which keeps most City fans' feet on the ground I think. Despite the vitriol from some parts about attitude I don't think many City fans have forgotten "Typical City" quite yet, although I admit to being excited this is the first time I remember for over 30 years when I'm thinking at the start of the season we may, may, have a chance of actually winning something or maybe a final anyway.btw Spurs away ?49.00? I'll be watching that on the telly. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/178/#findComment-485298 Share on other sites
Easties EL
Manchester United is my tip to win the lot this season. Fergie has bolstered his attack with Bepe and Hernandez. At the back they don't look so strong when they last won the title, but compared to Chelsea, who just lost Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid, will struggle and I feel expose our national ex-captain John Terry to continue making errors in defence (and probably off the pitch too). Chelsea have the lethal Drogba, with Anelka and Malouda backing him on attack. I wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea also add to their attack before the window ends. So that's the main two teams out of the way. Hahahah. Yep that's it. Can seeing it going to the wire again with these two giants of English football (yawn, yawn). Two teams battling out for the title. Arsenal, well they need a solid keeper. Given or Schwarzer? Well let's hope Arsene does get one or I can see a repeat of last season, where they became so close in the final running, but a catalogue of errors at the back(in goal) cost them the chance of winning the title. Going forward, they have added new additions with Marouane Chamakh. This could be very well Csec Faberagas last season at the club and I'm sure he as always will be providing potent passes and assists to the frontline. If Nasri and Roskicy can keep fit, Arsenal should be up there with Chelsea and United, but fall short just like they did last season at the final hurdle. Oh some bloke called Jack Wilshere might make his mark.Usually I would mention Liverpool now, but the 80's are over, sorry I meant the 90's, no, no, I mean the 00's. Anyways. Manchester City has splashed the cash, like Brewster Millions, which it must feel like for the Manchester City manager. Milner (not confirmed), YaYa Toure, Karlov, Botange, Mario Balotelli and the rest will surely make City the outside bet to win the title. If they can keep together and not have any fallings out and play like a team who know each other, then Carlos Tevez will be the top goal scorer this season. However, the other option is fallouts and sulks on the bench causing the City manager Mancini favourite for the sack and then shell out 100 million for the services or Mourinho or some bloke called Dave. The other likely suspects are Spurs and well Liverpool (huffs). Spurs have to play the Young Boys, to confirm their status on playing Champions League proper at the Lane. Arry's got a knack off pulling off the Italian job style victories, if Chelsea and United have a complete balls up this season, then Spurs have got a chance, with new additions certain to join the Club before the end of the transfer window. Spurs have got a lethal team going forward; Lennon, Defoe, Modric, Bale and possibly Craig Bellamy, if you believe the Gossip pages. But at the back, not so strong, another top 4 finish is certain for Arry's men.Liverpool? Ah. I eat my hat and cook my underwear if they finish in the top 4 or win the title with Woy, who I think needs a season and two to do a complete re-vamp of a club that almost won the title in 08/09. However, Torres injury free (doubt that), Joe Cole injury free (doubt that), they possibly could have one the best (sorry lethal) attacks in the Premiership with Gerrard added to that triangle. Torres needs a world class striking partner to support him throughout the season, without this, than its Europa football again for Liverpool next season.Whose going down? West Brom, Blackpool,Wolves. Suprises packages? West Ham, Stoke.Manager to get the sack? ManciniPremiership Title Winners? Manchester United.
