Mick Mac
Most people in Ireland have an English team. Many have a Scottish team too. I agree you can only have one real team in your heart. For me that's Celtic, but for Robbie I can't comment. Lets see if he signs and kisses the badge...:)Its not so much an association with the Irish Community - Celtic originally was set up purely to benefit the Irish community in Glasgow, who were, guess what, not particularly welcome in ScotlandIts official - Robbie has signed for CelticMatt - get your money on Celtic for the title. jimmy two times
It's sad what's happened to Keane. I always loved him as a Spurs fan, but he that was diminished in my eyes when he left us for Liverpool then came back again. I think that experience has destroyed his confidence and he's not been the same player since. Also he played the best football of his career alongside Berbatov. Berbatov benefited from playing with Keane and he has not been the same player since their partnership has split. I think it's a move that appeals to him. He's a big Celtic man and he'd like to go up to Celtic and play like Roy Keane did. The Irish lads, it's in their blood and they dream of playing for Celtic one day. This opportunity is one they want to take and we don't want to stand in his way, because we're strong in that position.'' kpc
He's tended to move pretty frequently throughout his career. Even during his first spell at Spurs, there were constant rumours about him moving on. Mick Mac
jimmy two times Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> In other words Robbie is down in the pecking order> as our striker so we're putting him out to> pasture.Thats spot on Jimmy. Celtic could not afford a top Premiership player at his best, but I'm pleased that Robbie has decided to come before it really was too late. He may not be good enough for a top 4 prem player but I think Robbie has a lot to offer and has been badly affected by the Liverpool fiasco, but the absolute adoration he will receive at Celtic will reinvigorate him. I have always liked Robbie as an Irish player even before Spurs, he has been a great servant to Irish football and is a massive signing for Celtic. The biggest Premiership player to come to the club since Chris Sutton perhaps, with no disrespect to John Hartson or Neil Lennon (or as an afterthought Craig Bellamy) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/80/#findComment-482837 Share on other sites
jimmy two times
I hope he does well at Celtic. He's an honest and talented player. Just a shame from a Spurs point of view. Harry has to take some responsibilty for Keane's poor form. I'm not sure why he bought him back from Liverpool? Any Spurs fan could have told him that Keane and Defoe could not play together. Harry also bought Chimbonda back and sold him on again pretty sharpish. That's a lot of money wasted by the Tottenham manager. Mick Mac
Its only a loan, so once he has scored two hatricks against Rangers and won the league, he will be worth a fortune again and you can have him back. Spurs fans can come and watch him at a big ground any time. All welcome. Sorry.Have been trying my best to agree with you without putting down my own team. Step down for Robbie as he grows older but lots of bonuses for him, in playing for his team, his people, and who knows he might even stay and get champions league next year. So all in all, as steps down go, its comes with a lot of consolations. matthew123
What financial state will Spurs be in when Harry Redknapp eventually departs, will they go down the same path of meltdown that Pompey are now doing and what West Ham did when they had to flog the family silver? jimmy two times
I hope Robbie can revitalize his career north of the border. He's a good player but needs to regain his confidence, which is vital for a striker. Benitez has a lot to answer for. SCSB79
I love the fact that Celtic fans now seem to think one man is going to win the league. You've now got 6 strikers at the club, 4 of which are new this month and who more likely than not came to play football... you can't please them all. Also, you've got almost a whole new team to get to know each other and gel... this isn't going to happen over night. Fifteen games to go, 10 points behind, ok probably 7 as you'll more than likely beat Killie in your game in hand...Fact of the matter is Mowbray is taking a massive, massive gamble in his transfer dealings and has got rid of a couple of players in MacDonald and Robson that any SPL team needs. I am happier that they have gone, than worried about Keane coming in. If Mowbray had just play MacDonald I think the league would look a whole lot different. If it doesn't work for you, and all these "blue chip" (no sniggering in the back) loanees leave again in the summer Celtic will have to do it all again... No Champions League money in the bank for th 2nd year running and you'll be in the sh*t.It is in Rangers hands and is ours to throw away. We Welcome The Chase. Mick Mac
LG - are you still hoping to win the title? I guess it depends on beating Chelsea to stay in it. I would not say that its impossible, but they need to learn some lessons from Sunday. I'd expect a different match as Chelsea are at home so they might push forward and this time it might be Arsenal who can score on the break. Buts its win or bust. Almunia and Clichy looked like major weaknesses on Sunday unfortunatley. Ladygooner
Thats very true Sandperson. MickMac - I think it will be difficult to win the title if we play like we did on Sunday. Not expecting to get 3 points at Chelsea. Almunia was a nightmare - he should go.
