Sounds familiar and possession counts for nothing at the end of the day.The team that takes it chances wins and many teams suffer from believing in the new management mantras of "Possession football" and "the team that passes the ball best, blah blah blah" which are the top managerial misconceptions of the moment. Wenger, Benitez, and Mowbray too, are the main culprits I can think of in thinking that you can win a game without remembering that the point of the game is to create genuine chances and score goals.Alex Ferguson and Martin O Neill lead the way in the opposing corner. Narnia
Don't think I've ever seen ManU with such a good shot to goals ratio. Harry was complaining afterwards about the athmosphere in the ground. How that inhibited Spurs I'm not sure but he seemed to think so. Jah Lush
Manchester United had five shots off target and two shots on target and scored twice, both from outside the box. Two very good finishes I might add. Similarly we had two on target and six off target. We didn't take our chances and they did.I'm not too bothered though. It's no disgrace to go out of a competition at the quarter-final stage at Old Trafford. Perhaps, now we can concentrate more on cementing a top four finish and maybe a good run in the FA Cup. ????
Anyway, away from local tribalism to international tribalism - World Cup draw on Friday thoroughly looking forward to that. England have drifted out to 8/1 from 6/1 with the bookies I notice. Spain favoutites (just) over Brazil. red devil
What's the latest on Carlton Cole?, rumour reports suggest he has knee ligament damage and could be out for some time, if true Irons have got a very long season ahead...I'm going for a 0-0 on Sunday! ????
They've announced the seeding and we are seeded. Portugal and France not. Potential Group of Death = Portugal/France, Ivory Coast, USA From BBC "worst case scenario on Friday would arguably see Fabio Capello's side take on France, Ivory Coast and the USA, while a far easier proposition on paper would have England facing Slovenia, Algeria and New Zealand." Mick Mac
Wave Palestinian flags, unions urge Celtic soccer fans at tonights match against Isrealis"We hope that Celtic fans will join with us in a demonstration of support for a just and lasting peace in Israel/Palestine based on a secure Palestinian homeland living side by side with Israel," Dave Moxham, deputy secretary general of the Scottish Trades Union Congress said in a statement.Thankfully Celtic have nipped this in the bud, but why on earth would a Scottish Trades Union get involved in this sort of propoganda request? Embarrasing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/24/#findComment-481443 Share on other sites

Sandperson
I'm looking forward to seeing what team Fergie puts out for the Manchester derby cup tie! Keef
Agree Wenger could have been more gracious, but there is something about Hughes that I find really really dislikeab;e! He's an arrogant c**t, and IO can't wait til they sack him for a "big name" manager! Atila Reincarnate
Agree Keef. You'd have thought that with the amount of money they've got to chuck at the club, the arbs would have had a big name manager on board, but who would take the job? Is it perhaps a posion chalice? Jah Lush
Arsene Wenger has always been a very bad loser and is classically myopic and Fergie's the same. That's what makes them winners. Not that the Arse have won much of late. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18997-football-focus/page/24/#findComment-481449 Share on other sites
Atila Reincarnate
Yes I agree since 98, 3 titles , 2 FA cups and a Champions league final. Atila Reincarnate
Yes that's true, but your lot haven't won the title for 48 years. That's a fact, as irksome as it might be, but for all of your title pretentions, it's 48 and counting.
