Brendan
Good idea as I think calling it "Brendan's Gaff" may be a bit too locally specific. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1893-upper-east-side/#findComment-53830 Share on other sites
lozzyloz
I think the "Upper" refers to the area on the same side of LL as the Library. Don't get confused with Lower Upper East Side which slopes of towards Forest Hill. mockney piers
I may have to take a compendium of Azul's posts to a publishers and claim him as a suburban beat poet.It may fly.Generation ED? lozzyloz
I spoke to Gary of Southside. Apparently it was named thus to confuse outsiders so that they'd turn around and drive back down Barry Road to Nunhead. Brendan
citizenED Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Plough End of LL is surely Southsides ED. It just wouldn?t work because then when you head North up Lordship Lane from the Southsides you would be walking downhill, which isn?t right?? surely? citizenED
No, Brendan, that's only if you are one of those people who turn the map round in the car so it is facing in the direction of travel. Nero
I started using the term a while ago. I intended it to mean the bit of ED up the hill after Townley, on the left hand side, going up to Underhill/Overhill etc. Nero Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1893-upper-east-side/#findComment-54215 Share on other sites

Azul
when I cycle home my tongue usually shows a bit of herself out of my mouth, so I guess I don't live at the bottom but at the top. That means I can't be living at the "Lower Upper East Side" nor at the "Deep Southern Upper East Side", so I reckon I live on the "Southern Upper East Side" and those who live near the plough live in the "Lower Upper East Side"right ?
