You clearly haven't met her.

Maybe I can get a bar scene in a goldfish tank like the one that used to hang in Schmollensky's on the Strand...

Those funny cabinets that hide the shame of your television crack me up. Especially if there are fake 'books' on shelves around it with VHS cassettes inside.

When two friends of mine got married - they were so much in love that "they didn't have a television". Anyway, that was a few years ago.. they've got a 40 incher now.

I reckon you can go over 32" but only if you've got a room dedicated to film. Ideally in a loft or basement and with a projector, recliners and some expensive memorabilia.

As for hiding it in a cupboard I think that if you can do it discreetly then that should be encouraged.

Not housing it is like leaving your hoover out. Ours is currently unhoused but that will be addressed in the fullness of time.

Re Ercol.. I'm not a fan of the style myself (I find it a bit too 'country kitchen' but the old stuff is appreciating in value as there are people who are fans. I've seen Ercol high-backed chairs on sale in London for a few hundred quid a pop.

As with most things.. if you like it.. buy it and enjoy it.

I should delete those two posts as spam but for the enjoyment of allowing me to re-read Alan and Bob swapping home decor tips I'm letting them stay.

See people - this is the nostalgia us old timers talk about.

Alan and Bob - the Ann Ryder-Richardson and Handy-Andy of the forum.

Priceless. I see what you mean (tu)

In that case, may I revive the piano for sale thread from the same great vintage, 2007.

(Btw, I've decided against buying a piano but I'm fine and dandy for kitchen tiles.)

    • Hi does anyone have a Hotwheels track (ideally which packs away neatly like the fuel can or transporter one) they've been itching to get rid of please? Needed urgently for an emergency birthday present!    Thanks!
    • Glad to hear that the cops are taking crash for cash seriously.  The situation I am aware of the driver called the police, reported it separately as dangerous motorcycling, avoided all calls from 'ambulance chasers' and subsequently got a letter from the police saying it was an unregistered rider/uninsured rider.  It was reluctantly reported to their insurers who actually did not put up the premium which was a nice surprise. So as stressful as it may be just hold firm, deny everything, take down details and report to the police.
    • Hi I am looking to join some local businesses networking events and wondering if anyone can recommend any. I know there used to be one (Cooking with Scissors) but that’s not running any more. Thanks.
    • Eats Dulwich has just reviewed Arapina, including its hot chocolate!  I assume they read the original first and  very long post on this thread before almost all of it was removed. Interesting to have another opinion!
