just scooted home via Peckham high st and took a short cut to avoid a main jct and quite glad I did - did have some lippy little t*rds mouthing off and trying to look hard, but the tension in the area was so visible - i've never seen to many residents of peckham out on the streets at 6pm.

Unbelievable, I can smell the smoke from the Rye Lane fire in my kitchen. I live ten minutes away. Helicopters hovering nearby. I think the fire is under control as the thick smoke has stopped.

Wrong info, I can still see the smoke from my kitchen window.

I'm so angry! This is mindless bloody violance. Some t**t on the radio earlier trying to justify behaviour saying it's because people aren't being listened to, no jobs blah blah blah. There's no excuse for this behaviour. It's so sad that this might be the perception of the rest of the world before the London Olympics.

i feel the same; I want to run down LL and set up a live barricade which will fry them if they approach it. Selfish crazy people who are achieving nothing but ruining peoples homes, businesses and lives..i hope no one gets killed..anything is likely

Came through Old Kent Rd on my motorbike tonight, went to Asda on Old Kent Rd: that was closed, then Morrisons - that was closed and pallets up in the doorways. Dog Kennel Hill Sainsburys closed. Tesco metro shut at the end of Rye Lane. Lots of afro-caribbean kids on mobile phones wearing hoodies looking furtive near where the road splits around the Rye and goes into the little one way system, I glanced at one and he was definitely up to no good-the armed forces call it "aware" - he was definitely that . A definite feeling of tension about the place. This is very redolent of Toxteth back in 1982 which I remember as I lived nearby. It's definitely co-ordinated- nothing to do with peaceful protest-all to do with anarchy. Can see flames near Rye Lane from our flat in Overhill Rd. Two helicopters about 15 mins ago and another other north east London.

This IS London not Londonderry, isn't it?

    • I also recommend Energie in Forest Hill. good value and a proper mix of ages and men and women. Pretty quiet after 10am as well. Its handy for 176 and 185 buses and if you have a car the car park behind Sainsbury's is free for two hours and free all day on Sunday. You'll need to have the PayByPhone app.
    • We used John Clements at LEAD, he practices at the Tessa Jowell centre. Jon and Charlie the speech & language therapist were both great. Highly recommended.
    • I passed Malabar Feast earlier today, and it said "Under New Management" . Apart from the soggy dosas, which I don't think should be on the delivery menu, I really hope they don't change the rest of the menu, or the chef/s,  because it is our go to (bad choice of words) delivery place of choice, and absolutely everything else we have had there has been delicious.
    • Is that the right link, Ianr ? If so, I don't understand?
