philosophie
Unfortunately, I wasn't overly impressed by these burgers - they were OK but a bit small and we definitely don't have a Sweeney Todd situation! The vegan cheese was really nice, though. The worst bit was the fries - not very nice at all and definitely undercooked. Maybe it's still just teething problems... fishbiscuits
Sweeney Todd and Hilary Briss jokes aside... it does seem strange that they can apparently make a miraculoulsy good meat-free burger, but are unable to cook chips. mariagatty
Thanks for this, I will be trying these tesco steaks they look great! I haven't tried any of the kebab either. I can see the vegan plates menu are offering kebab also, tempted to give this a go this evening after work. In regards with them not being able to cook the chips properly, I think it could be down to teething problems, however I found the burger delicious and the extra patty makes a difference to the overall value of the burger and I like the fact you can customise the burger. You can tell its not meat but definitely the best we have had. On the website I can see that it looks like the council have given them a spot on north cross road so I doubt its cooked in an oven, but griddle.I can't wait for them to come to north x road :) rendelharris Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Seems a lot of products coming to suprmarkets> soon:> https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/may/> 19/fake-steak-supermarkets-flexitarians-meat-free-> burgers> > The Vivera "steak" at Tesco's looks particularly> interesting, I regularly buy their Schwama kebab> "meat" and it's very good indeed Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188469-apparently-a-new-vegan-junk-food-delivery-is-coming-to-ed/page/3/#findComment-1251150 Share on other sites
Melbournemember
The burgers they do are very good, however how did they manage to get the council to give them a spot on the north cross market, my friend has been trying for years????? Vegan plates seems to have only been around for a couple of months. Does anyone know how the council allocate these spaces?mariagatty Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Thanks for this, I will be trying these tesco> steaks they look great! juliephilippart
I LOVE this place!!!Love the Kebabs (something I missed a LOT) and the "chickn vurger" AMAZING!!And of course, the churros!! They are tasty...Have any of you tried the "no bull" burguers from iceland? they are 2 pounds and are pretty awesome, pretty similar to the ones from this take away place, everytime I go up to peckham i make sure i grab a few boxes and keep them in the freezer for those days we fancy dirty food! I think it's a MUST to try! Decoraterdave
100% agree tasty! I was a bit sceptical before ordering due to the low quality photographs of the food on the website, I'm guessing they are not a big business (I started with home printed flyers for my business) that can get pro photos done currently, hats off to them though they are a great addition to ED and equally looking forward and welcome the to the n x market and will be ordering next week for the big game. spark67
My partner is vegan, and i do not eat meat or dairy, but occasions fish... but home we eat mainly vegan, like most people we don't mind the odd treat of a not very healthy trashy takeaway .... Usually during a hangover...so this sounds fab so will give it ago. When we have had the odd bbq tis summer we found these fab burger that are exclusive to Iceland.. called NO BULL BURGERS, not too much crap in them apart from some rapeseed oil, made with herbs, soya protein and beetroot extract and some herbs, no sugar.... they look like they are bleeding when on the grill, not bothered about that myself.... but pleases our meat eating friends when offered as a choice Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188469-apparently-a-new-vegan-junk-food-delivery-is-coming-to-ed/page/3/#findComment-1262065 Share on other sites
Flux capacitor
Before jumping on the vegan bandwagon consult your physician, don't get your advice from google or a youtube video. EDMP
Hi Flux, I'm pretty sure a vegan diet would be healthier than most of the meat options mass produced to us these days, I'm not a full-time hard vegan but I like to reduce my meat intake to around 3 or 4 times a week for many reasons. I ordered a kebab from vegan plates a couple of weeks ago and although I could tell It wasn't meat, it was very enjoyable and tasty with a kick of spice, I haven't tried the burgers yet but the reviews are looking good. I can also see they will soon be on the North Cross Rd Market if they get enough backers, which I'm looking forward to.Flux capacitor Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Before jumping on the vegan bandwagon consult your> physician, don't get your advice from google or a> youtube video. Take Note
I don't think you're even mildly vegetarian, let alone "hardcore vegan" if you still eat meat "3 or 4 times a week", EDMP :)Good that you're cutting down though. It's a slippery slope! EDMP
I was stating a simple fact that I'm not a vegan but enjoyed the kebab lol maybe I just wrote it wrong, how is it a slippery slope Im confused? Melbournemember
Makes you feel a lot more energetic thats for sure and less groggy in the mornings. I do think eating meat lowers our energy levels, however I do crave a fatty "unhealthy" meal every now and then and the vegan plates does that for me lol. I just seen them on Deliveroo, I would rather book directly to avoid the delivery fees as there website offer a free delivery ;) Take Note Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> slippery slope to full veganism - meant In a good> way Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188469-apparently-a-new-vegan-junk-food-delivery-is-coming-to-ed/page/3/#findComment-1271353 Share on other sites

Lebanums
I'm sure Iceland are not the only retailer or food outlet to purchase the no bull burger.Still if retail price is ?1 each for a no bull burger + sainsburys bun it is possible to recreate for a fraction of the price.
