Just thought I'd ask advice...

My daughter is about to start school and I'm getting some of those school label/name tag things made up online...

Is it the done thing to have the phone number on the school uniform as well as the child's name?

Someone once mentioned on another thread about possibilities of 'stranger danger' if the phone number was on there...but I didn't quite grasp the meaning...

I thought phone number (the mum's) might be a good idea if the items get lost...but not sure if there is any risk with exposing phone number like this.

Daft question I know..but thought I'd see what those with school age kids think?

Many thanks.

Just the name is fine. There will be a lost property box / boxes at the school and anything will usually find its way back there. Cardigans, jumpers and coats are the most important to name as these are the items the children can easily take off at anytime - school playground, play dates, local park after school etc.

I don't think there is any harm in having your mobile on it but most people will just hand things back to the school.

Hope she has a fab time.

Thanks for the advice.

I think you are right - phone number is probably overkill. Plus if I end up using the woven sew on variety then presumably I can re-use these name tags over again ...(perhaps overly ambitious thought?) and then its possible that the phone number will be out of date at some stage.

Quite excited about the new school, as is she...perhaps being a bit over zealous with preparations :)

I avoided the hassle of sewing by buying a laundry marker pen and just marking the normal labels. There's usually enough space somewhere and you recognise your own scribble. As Mrs TP says, they don't get returned to you, you have to hunt so as long as you recognise it, that's usually enough.

Not enough people actually get guidence on how to use the equipment properly and therefore either don't get the best out of it or injure themselves. After the refurb I booked an induction so I learnt how to adjust the new equipment because despite attending there for about 10years I was used to the old machines and equipment and at my age (64) I really did'nt want to faff around not knowing how adjust things correctly. As regards advance booking classes I know for sure you used to be able to book a class 10days in advance but not sure about 2 weeks. Good luck in the gym!
