midivydale
This summer will be taking a different shape as our new addition will arrive early July. We would like to go somewhere at the end of August. Centerparcs aside can you recommend any other destinations that would suit a (very) active and sociable 6 year old, us parents and a newborn. Some water would be great either beach or water park type stuff Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188219-uk-holiday-destinations-please/ Share on other sites
yeknomyeknom
Bournemouth beach is beautiful. It?s won lots of awards. We stay at the Marriott Eastcliff which is at the top of a vehicular, great fun for our 5 yr old boy. If you are there a few days it?s fun to rent a traditional beach hut on the beach to make your own tea and lunch etc. There is also a very excellent pool about 1tmins drive away that had about 10mwater slides. Many suitable for non swimming children which is unusual. missyelliott
The Isla of Wight is great. Getting the ferry over is fun too as it feel like you are going abroad but a really fun island with lots within very short driving distances. EP212
you could go to Norfolk, go on a boat, go to Holkham beach and Morston. There are zoos, nature reserves and the beach. So much to do and see.. x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188219-uk-holiday-destinations-please/#findComment-1236650 Share on other sites

monniemae
Lol EP212 Norfolk is not 1.5 hours even from north London, let alone east dulwich, even if you drive like a maniac (as my dad does). Pamela78
We've enjoyed a couple of great family holidays in Tenby in Pembrokeshire - beautiful beaches, walks, castles, family farms/zoos - plus Bluestone for lagoon style swimming. Pamela78
And we've had several brilliant trips to Edinburgh - usually stay in South Queensferry so kids can play on the beach / rockpools. It's a quick train/drive into the city centre where there's obviously loads to do (especially in August with the Festival - there's masses on for kids). And in the surrounding area, there's the zoo, country parks, aquarium and great day trips to castles/North Berwick etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188219-uk-holiday-destinations-please/#findComment-1236681 Share on other sites
jimbo1964
Blakeney in Norfolk is brilliant. Loads of crabbing around the harbour, nice beaches and fish and chips. We had a lovely holiday there a couple of years ago. I can also second the Isle of Wight. Sonners
We?ve switched to Norfolk/Suffolk rather than Dorset/Devon since I was pregnant with our second three years ago and it is so nice to have such a shorter distance to go! SLad
We just had an amazing holiday in Aberdeenshire - glorious Cairngorms and amazing beaches. Loads of castles and NT places to explore. Very cheap to fly and hire a car. Really lovely people/. LauraHW
If you can face the drive Mousehole near Penzance is an amazing location. Loads of stuff to do round there and the village is a great base with a lovely harbour / beach that is very kid friendly Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/188219-uk-holiday-destinations-please/#findComment-1239102 Share on other sites
