downsouth
Brilliant pics Snorky. What a shame about the cinema - I love that Art Deco look. Reminds me of the Royal Festival Hall. East Dulwich Angst
I came across these a while backEast Dulwich , Dulwich , Nunhead , Peckham Here's a little taster of Goose Green in 1905http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/images/southwark/east-dulwich/goose-green-00638-640.jpgand one of the Heber Armshttp://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/images/southwark/east-dulwich/heber-arms-01624-750.jpg Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1873-ed-pix/#findComment-53014 Share on other sites

Mellors
To be fair to the yummy mummies, Peckham Multiplex pictures don't do a mother and baby screening. I think they are totally missing a trick - I've been going to the Picturehouses at Clapham, Brixton and Greenwich with the sprog to the under 1 year old showing for the last year and they are always packed to the rafters (and its ?6!). If they had done it at Peckham I would much rather have gone there as its much closer and cheaper. Peckhamgatecrasher
You should email the manager - he may consider it. The price has gone back to ?2.99 for any film because he has responded to public clamour. JoeChuff
given that mother & baby screenings are, in practice, screenings where attendees are exempt from the commonly-accepted social duty to remain silent during a film out of respect for fellow cinema-goers, surely every screening at the Peckham multiplex is effectively a mother-and-baby screening? Mellors
They do let you take your sprogs in, but only for U rated film. My baby has been weaned on 18s and foreign art house, so probably wouldn't like Ratatouille.... ed_pete
Changed to the Odeon in 1936 - looks much less attractive but on closer inspection just looks like the central triangular bit was removed and the horizontal blocks (not the correct architectural term I am sure) removed Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/1873-ed-pix/#findComment-53069 Share on other sites

Frisco
"oh cripes, makes you want to weep doesn;t it? and the cinema was demolished fairly recently (5 yrs or so?)"Maybe less than that, but I seem to remember that the front portion of the building had gone sometime before that.
