Walking Football for over 50's

Recommended Posts

Athenlay Football Club have started a Walking football group at the Homestall Road Playing Fields (https://goo.gl/maps/UCPspkYSoh82) and would like to invite local people to come along and play. It is open to both male and female participants aged 50 + but women slightly younger are also welcomed to play.

Walking football is ideal for helping people to stay fit and healthy, who perhaps may be recovering from an injury or surgery such as a knee or hip replacement or have diabetes, or simply want to become more active and make some new friends while keeping fit. So why not come and enjoy the beautiful game with this modified version of football that is tailored to meet the needs for all abilities.

The sessions take place outdoors on the 4G pitch at the home of Athenlay Football Club (Homestall Road Playing Fields, Homestall Road SE22 0RN), every Tuesday morning from 10am to 11:30am and is FREE for participants to play.

Players can wear comfortable warm clothing, including hats and gloves, but you must wear trainers or moulded stud boots, shin pads are advisable but not a must. Also make sure that you bring along a water bottle to keep hydrated.

    • Hi my names milly, I’m in year 11 of school, I live in the forest hill area and am looking to do some babysitting jobs. I’m a good cook, i’m good with kids and i’ll most likely be studying, when i’m not tending to the kids, as i am nearing my GCSE’s. Message me if you’re interested and we can discuss further. x

    • How mean-minded to call the creative project of a group of enterprising youngsters, using their time productively 'foul'?  Surely taking the initiative to set this u,p so young people can be outside and exercising is a positive and productive thing to be admired? 'Underage drinking and drugs' are more likely to happen when young people have nowhere to go and nothing to do (plus they can take place anywhere!) . How is a derelict pub better?
    • Please dont redevelop....the skatepark is a  rare place where young kids can chat, connect, and do something outside of the addictive but dull world of the internet. Community is one of our most precious parts of life.
