It's in the Walled Garden - just next to the new water area. We parked up on the other side of the park on Brockwell Park Gardens by the top gate and walked over. It really was good (fro what could hear as was sat in shade feeding the baby for much of it!) - you start outside then go into the walled garden and move around the garden promenade style. Cannot believe Z concentrated on it and didn't belt off!! Not specially cheap (?7 ticket?) but quite an unusual thing and a treat and as enjoyable for an adult as a child!! (rare...!)

It doesnt say where but other similar things have been near the play area

I think it's suitable for quite young children .... There were lots of 2-3 yos but my 7m old wS quite taken by the instruments

Because the stuff they had was quite interesting, children tended to hang about rather than run off

Gazebo with badge making and painting

Mats, pillows, beanbags

Dressing up, instruments

All quite low key but it was perfect for a warm afternoon, we put our own blankets down and sat in the middle

No need to book just come along on the day with your picnic for lots of fun activities for the under 5s. Contact the children's centre outreach team on 0208 695 6236 fo more info.

Was just in Wells park, and chanced upon a sure start chuldrens centre open air session. Bit late for today, but next Monday 8th August, they'll be at Hornimans 11am-2pm.

They're calling it a community picnic. Basically they put out quite a few things for under 5s, and you just turn up with your own picnic.

Seemed nice, wish I'd known about today. They're there til 2 if anyone wanted to jump in a car with little ones.

    • Local councillors,  over the many years that the boards have been installed, have rarely updated them. Details of councillors surgeries were posted by party supporters.
    • If you speak to the reception you should be able to get a free gym induction as part of your membership. Not enough people actually get guidence on how to use the equipment properly and therefore either don't get the best out of it or injure themselves. After the refurb I booked an induction so I learnt how to adjust the new equipment because despite attending there for about 10years I was used to the old machines and equipment and at my age (64) I really did'nt want to faff around not knowing how adjust things correctly. As regards advance booking classes I know for sure you used to be able to book a class 10days in advance but not sure about 2 weeks. Good luck in the gym!
    • Wtf. The word in Greek is the “n” word for Black women. Why would someone open a business under this name? People should boycott instead of commenting on food.
    • Good on you for doing something rather than some who would prefer to complain about what others are doing.  Enjoyed the read and look forward to seeing more of the meals from the area.   There's are some great substack newsletters out there for local news and exploration. Love to see it.
