pedropowers
Hi InternetI am currently new to the area and am putting together a business plan for opening a tattoo shop, along lordship lane or along by the actress pub or near abouts. How do you, as a community, feel about this? Do you feel as an up and coming town, this would be well received? Given the fashion and style of the town and the surrounding area. Please any feedback would be very much appreciated, good or bad and be as harsh as you like. Thanks, Pete Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18579-opening-a-tattoo-shop-in-ed/ Share on other sites

Jeremy
As I said on your other thread, I don't think there'd be much of a demand round here. Although I can't think of a reason why anyone would object to you setting up shop. tomdhu
Pete,Having seen the area change over the years, I think your tattoos would last a lot longer than your new business.Tom Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18579-opening-a-tattoo-shop-in-ed/#findComment-456893 Share on other sites

sophiesofa
I think it would be a nice change from yet another estate agent but I don't think you'd get much business here but you never know. Good luck with whatever you decide. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18579-opening-a-tattoo-shop-in-ed/#findComment-456917 Share on other sites
Strawbs
I think it would be a great thing, I dont think anyone would have a negative view on it and I think there must be a demographic in ED that it would appeal to.. I got mine done at Nunhead so somewhere good and even more local may tempt me in for a look.. Good luck!! Heinz
East Dulwich has got the highest birth rate in Europe...And the kids as a right of passage will no doubt want to get inked (in true British fashion). So yeah.. might piss of their parents but you have got a huge ripening market ready for the plucking. PhilPhilPhil
Yeah good luck Pete, it would make a nice change and add some colour to the area (forgive the unintentional pun). East Dulwich isnt the most obvious place to set up shop to be honest but maybe the locals are more adventurous than we're giving them credit for. I don't know if there are many tattooists in the surrounding areas so you might be able to attract business from Peckham, Herne Hill, Forest Hill etc if you market it properly. I think people are often put off of tattoo parlours because they can look quite intimidating so it would help if you made yours look approachable. Blacked out windows tend to deter the curious! mockney piers
"East Dulwich has got the highest birth rate in Europe...And the kids as a right of passage"Although in fairness by the time they're old enough to have such a rite, most of them'll be living in the home counties ;) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18579-opening-a-tattoo-shop-in-ed/#findComment-456940 Share on other sites

PhilPhilPhil
Are you planning to have a website? Doesnt have to be fancy or expensive but any kind of online presence helps you reach out to other areas, show off your work and give people an idea of what they should expect to pay.I'm not a website designer touting for business, by the way! pedropowers
Hi PhilPhilPhilYes a website is almost certainly in the pipeline. I can design websites myself using Dreamweaver and just notepad and HTML. I dont know every detail but I can do the basics. But thank you, you're right and a website would be extremly beneficial.Thank youPete Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18579-opening-a-tattoo-shop-in-ed/#findComment-456946 Share on other sites
Penguin68
I think if we have a tattoo parlour we can absolutely guarantee it won't be followed shortly, or ever at all, by a Waitrose(Sound of huge spoon in pot stirring).
