I guess so, but it also reinforces a 'them & us' mentality. Maybe it would be good to offer some mixed sessions, with limited numbers if need be.

I do see your point, and was not posting because I minded the play area being closed to the general public today, I just think in general it is good for children to mix (& surely people would stare less in time if it became more normal to all be playing together?).

Just a thought, and I admit to having very little experience with handicapped children so this is posted with intent to understand tye reasoning more than anything.

Hmm not really, what the kids and parents gain from having the playground to themselves overides anything else. Some autistic children need a lot of physical space around them and may have behavioural problems. Having a non judgemental, safe, enclosed, stimulating place to go is like gold dust. Many families with disabled children rarely get the opportunity to get out for a variety of reasons. Unfortunately patience tolerance and understanding by neuro typical children and parents doesnt always happen. . and I do agree it would be good to offer some additional supervised mixed sessions with limited numbers. Southwark Council take note :)

Seconding this really. Long may this continue!!!

    • maybe u should speak to some of the kids parents who are constantly mugged who can’t get a police officer to investigate and tell them to stick to gb news, such a childish righteousness comment for your self  All jokes aside there is young kids constantly getting mugged in our area, there is masked bike riders going around armed with knife’s, all I’m saying is police resources could be better used, police wont use there resources to respond to car theft but will happily knock on someone’s door for hurtful comments on the internet which should have us all thinking 🤔
    • I recommend you stick to GB News following that last comment.  Hate crime is still a crime.  We all think that we know best.
