Untaxed Clamped car.

Recommended Posts

Someone has left an Untaxed car outside my house which has now been clamped.

Parking is bad enough without Imobilized vehicles taking up parking spaces.

The DVLA now have these Vans which have a camera on each of the corners of it's roof.

I have seen them on a few occassions in my road, so I assume they are driving around the area

and must be catching lots of other Untaxed Vehicles.

I have just recieved my Car Tax Renewal for ?215.00 which I will pay at the end of the Month.

The car was not there yesterday and not regularly parked there. Well I don't recognise it.

If the car ha been stolen I feel it might be there for weeks...

Surely the DVLA know the address of the registered owner and should pay them a visit.

Perhaps they will.

I think the usual practise is for the DVLA to send a fine to the Registered Keeper a couple of weeks after the tax disc runs out. If this isn't paid, the van pays a visit. If the fine still isn't paid, the car is taken away and sold or crushed.

I think they just crush the bangers, which have to be recycled by law (good parts salvaged; fluids drained; plastics removed and turned into insulation/soundproofing on new cars; metal sent for smelting). The decent cars are auctioned off.

Untaxed cars are usually uninsured, un-MoTd or unregistered - these are the cars more likely than any other to be involved in accidents or crime.

So it's draconian, but a Good Thing.

    • I've done some searching and come up with these.  The first looks very helpful for getting to know about the Hub itself, and the others may give some useful history.  I've yet to look through them myself. https://carnegielibraryhub.org.uk/
    • I'm with Octopus, and I have no idea what to do either. Finding it hard to get my head around it all. They seem to have a 15 month fix with no exit fees, however I'm not sure if I exited whether I could just revert to whatever I'm on at the moment, or whether I might find that whatever that is might no longer be an available option. I tend to just heat whatever room I'm in and/or use a heated throw. And use the microwave where possible unless I've got an oven full of stuff which I can then freeze most of.
    • If anyone is looking for a plumber, I would really recommend Niko. He has helped me out with two different bathroom plumbing jobs. He’s super responsive and reliable, well-priced and patient in explaining the issues. His number is +44 7818 607583. HM
    • ??? I feel really weak and  dizzy, I don't think it's a good idea at all to be out. And my vitamin D level is actually much too high. Last time I had blood tests, my  GP told me to stop taking vitamin tablets.  But thanks for your concern! I appreciate the advice, but I only came on here to see if other people had similar symptoms!
