I am a PhD student at King?s College London studying ?Pathological Demand Avoidance? (PDA), a newly described disorder thought to be related to autism. As well as having difficulties with social behaviour, these children obsessively resist demands and requests, and may resort to outrageous behaviour if they feel imposed on.

I have developed a parent questionnaire to measure how much children avoid demands, and display other behaviours associated with PDA. To see whether children with PDA do score higher on the questionnaire compared to other children, I am asking parents of typically developing children, children with minor behavioural problems or autism spectrum disorders (as well as those with PDA) to complete the questionnaire.

If you would consider filling out the questionnaire about your child aged 6-17, I would be extremely grateful. I am particularly short of replies from parents of typically developing children. The questionnaire can be completed anonymously.

The questionnaire can be completed at the following link:

All participants will have the chance to enter a prize draw to win an I-Pod touch (draw date 2nd August 2011).

Many thanks for taking the time to consider this request. If you have any questions, please don?t hesitate to email me: [email protected] :))
