Wanted: road bike for teenager

Hi,

We are looking for a bike in reasonably good condition for our teenage son - 16, rising 17 and tall for his age (just over 6 foot)- so he can cycle to school. So doesn't need a whistle and bells bike just something roadworthy that is not a mountain bike.

Please let me know if anyone has anything that might suit,
