Hi all,

I'm at the daunting stage of trying to pick a buggy for my as yet unborn first baby. We have the option of a second hand Bugaboo Gecko for about the same price as a Maclaren techno XLR but advice on any other buggy would also help!

I need to walk the dog every day which means crossing grass and bumpy terrain. Can the Maclaren handle this well enough with those smaller wheels, or is Bugaboo a better option?

Also, is it possible to have the infant/child facing you with a Maclaren like you can with a bugaboo? It doesn;t look like it, but I wanted to check a I like that feature a lot.

THANKS For any help and advice!

Im a dog owner & Mum of two & I walk a lot off road.

My advice is to get a 3 wheeler with big wheels. Use a Ergo sling if you are up to it post birth & while baby is little & even in back carry mode when over 6 months if you are fit or not going far (I love mine now youngest is nearly 3 & will mostly walk, but I can sling her on my back to get her home if she gets tired).

In hindsight I should have got a Mountain Buggy in the first place with the pram option (facing you) for first few months, then you have that option too - I didn't research enough - I reckon they are best bet for Mums like us.

Otherwise, something similar but less expensive.

Worth looking on EBay - Mountain Buggys are very well made so even 2nd or 3rd hand should be in fab condition.

Oh & take the Mclaren as your back up/in the car/going on buses buggy/going on holiday buggy.

Hope this helps. PM me if you like, I've had A LOT of Buggys including a Bugaboo, 3 wheeler, Stokke, Micralite, Zap....and the Mountain Buggy has been by far the best all rounder.

    • maybe u should speak to some of the kids parents who are constantly mugged who can’t get a police officer to investigate and tell them to stick to gb news, such a childish righteousness comment for your self  All jokes aside there is young kids constantly getting mugged in our area, there is masked bike riders going around armed with knife’s, all I’m saying is police resources could be better used, police wont use there resources to respond to car theft but will happily knock on someone’s door for hurtful comments on the internet which should have us all thinking 🤔
    • I recommend you stick to GB News following that last comment.  Hate crime is still a crime.  We all think that we know best.
