ianr
... according to Southern Rail's http://www.journeycheck.com/southern:"Engineering work starting on 02/07/11 between London Bridge and Beckenham Junction.Track improvements and maintenance are taking place on 02/07/11 between London Bridge and Beckenham Junction.Whilst work is taking place, buses will replace trainsbetween Peckham Rye and Streatham Common via Tulse Hillbetween Streatham Common and Peckham Rye via Tulse HillTrain services will run as shuttles between London Bridge and Peckham Rye -in both directions- and between Crystal Palace and Beckenham Junction -in both directions-. Further Information is available from National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50."This seems to be planned for both Saturday and Sunday, judging from the National Rail journey planner.[Edited 14/8/11, following Jeremy's post, to remove the 2/3 July date from the title, and to note that the current JourneyCheck doesn't seem to have any mention of today's closure. Could that be because the work and closure started yesterday and the notification of the start has now fallen off the listing!?] Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18182-weekend-buses-for-trains-again/ Share on other sites

Sazzle30
Is there anyway posters can be put up at ED station so everyone is aware? The only time i seem to find out about this is via the forum. When I lived in Kilburn the tube station had posters clearly stating closures. Surely Southern rail could do the same (or even the station manager) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18182-weekend-buses-for-trains-again/#findComment-450779 Share on other sites
ianr
Just noticed this separate entry for Sunday on the Southern site:"Engineering work starting on 03/07/11 between London Bridge and East Croydon.Track improvements and maintenance are taking place on 03/07/11 between London Bridge and East Croydon.Whilst work is taking place, buses will replace trainsbetween Peckham Rye and Streatham via Tulse Hillbetween Streatham and Peckham Rye via Tulse Hill" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/18182-weekend-buses-for-trains-again/#findComment-450786 Share on other sites

James Barber
Hi Saveshambo,Yes, buses between Peckham Rye and Streatham means buses from ED.If you're travelling to London Bridge probably best to stroll over to Barry Road and catch no.12 to PR and catch train from there. shuntman
Hi saveshambo James advice was only partly right though I'm sure he didn't mean to mislead you. If you are going from east Dulwich to London bridge take the 40 bus ok. Or you can take the 176 & change at the elephant & castle or the 12 & change atthe elephant & castle though it takes longer than the 176.40 is the best bet as it takes you all the way to London bridge.Good luck Sman!! catgirl
Just spoke to rail enquiries and seems some trains running from Peckham rye and others are on bus replacement. Not sure how this can be?. Can anyone confirm? Eg she said 14.56 and 15.26 are running to lbridge ok but the 15.14 is a bus. spanglysteve
i think the engineering works are on the branch that goes from PEckham Rye down through ED. The trains that are not busses (if that makes sence) will likely be those running from Victoria to LB via Denmark Hill (therefore they will not be affected by the works on the ED branch. Goose
It has been really annoying having to get the bus into London Bridge early Sat AM and worse still trying to get back home later. Firstly the accident outside King's and last 2 weekends roadworks near King's so bad traffic. Does anyone have any idea how long these engineering works are going on for? It used to be occasional sundays but now appears to be all weekend.Thanks. Jeremy
No trains again. At least we can still get from PR/DH to Victoria. God knows what we'll do after that route is closed - sitting on a bus for an hour isn't an attractive option.
