I agree with Lynne; it's great to see investment elsewhere in the Southwark library system, but Dulwich Library provides a fantastic service to the local community in a variety of ways and is a godsend to the low-waged, teenagers needing somewhere quiet to study and parents of young children in particular, and it would be great to see the necessary investment to ensure it can continue to do this effectively.

The wifi system in particular seems poorly supported. It seems to break down regularly and the external supplier that supports it seems very slow to take action - over Christmas the service was down for several weeks waiting for a new plug, which apparently was sent by post. The in-house computer system too seems poorly supported: for the last couple of months there have been problems access hotmail and downloading files, to add to the existing longer-term problem of compatibility with Word file versions etc, apparently just because the system hasn't kept up with online developments and isn't getting the necessary patches.

    • All the parents looking after their kids instead of skiving from their meaningless desk jobs might mean it's quieter on here. Still, at least it gives free rein to the bad-tempered, long-winded pensioners that begin their posts "having resided in Dulwich for a not inconsiderable number of decades, may I be so bold as to suggest..." 😉
    • I miss that cyclist chap that comments on everything
    • We have been patients at Sternhall Lane for years. Our experience has generally been incredibly positive with speedy responses and very helpful staff. We are generally fortunate to get a same day appointment should we really need one either at Sternhall Lane or at Tessa Jowell and any necessary referalls have been swift.
    • @Alice if left might have been stolen/taken by someone (peed on by a dog or fox), also there are some little things attached of - I assume - sentimental value. I hope the owner can claim them. Will leave a note indeed with info how to retrieve them, though not with a private phone number in a public space 😅 Maybe a friend of a friend will come across this post on EDF.  @embob97 They do have a ring, sorry.
