Chick
The Greyhound in Dulwich village, Franklins in Lordship Lane Mirash by Goose Gree or Surma in LL. Also Sema Thai in LL. 18 Barry
welcome to the area. I'd also vote the Greyhound for a Sunday feed... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17927-good-food/#findComment-446413 Share on other sites
DrinkingBuddy
Greyhound is a nice pub but the food is average at best. Would go for Franklins. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17927-good-food/#findComment-446424 Share on other sites
RosieH
Franklins or the Palmerston for a great roast. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17927-good-food/#findComment-446474 Share on other sites
StraferJack
Two recommendations for the Greyhound? I'm speechlessA stunning pub and great in many ways but the food is identikit Mitchell & Butler "fayre" - just blandalanda papIf you go to the Greyhound you will either:a) enjoy the food and be dead to meb) wonder why anyone would recommend such dullness. And then I will wonder why you ignored advice to the contraryFranklins and Palmerston remain the best bets for out of towners who want something restaurant qualityMore informally, hisar, gowlett and the roast brisket on Sundays at the Florence/Bishop/Vic Inn are solid. And the Mag has upped it's game and sits somewhere in betweenBut the greyhound in the village? no no no Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17927-good-food/#findComment-446492 Share on other sites
rbrtdngl
A group of friends visited the Herne Hill Tavern last Sunday and said it was the best roast around (its run by the same people as the Palmerston). It also has a fantastic beer garden and is very family friendly.http://www.theherne.net/ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17927-good-food/#findComment-446496 Share on other sites
Sue
Greyhound does terrible food. Worst Sunday lunch I have ever had in my life, in fact probably the worst meal. I'm amazed to see people recommending it here.Herne bad in other ways but yes is family friendly, just avoid having any dealings with the manager.I'd try Franklins or the Mag ..... Townleygreen
I have found Joannas in Crystal Palace far better than Franklins in terms of food, ambience and service. No contest. I will, of course, be accused of sacrilege as it is not in ED. Moos
Hi Strawberryfields - maybe not for a smart Father's Day lunch, but the Blue Brick Cafe just off Northcross Rd is vegetarian only, and does really good, thoughtfully-cooked, better-than-cafe food. Pugwash
Sunday lunches at Le Moulin are always good in terms of choice, cost and taste. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17927-good-food/#findComment-446606 Share on other sites

EmmaDoran
Another vote for Joanna's - for a special occasion you can see if you can get their private booth.Montpelier on Choumert Road (so another non-ED recommendation, sorry) does some nice food.
