Ludlow Thompson - free advertising

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else noticed the proliferation of yellow beetles around the area owned by the estate agents Ludlow Thompson? The cynic in me is starting to believe that rather than just a way of getting the agents and their customers to properties, they are actually just sneaky agent advertising for the area - especially as one has been parked in my road for 3 and a half weeks now without moving!

Thought there were laws against agents and putting up bogus boards - is this a way to get round it?

by the way, if there's an Estate Agents board outside a property that says Sold or Let (not For Sale or To Let) it should not be outside a property beyond 14 days from the the sale/letting date. If it's longer than that and it annoys you, you can call the estate agent and ask them to take it down, they have to (Town and Country Planning Act).

Humph - so there's nothing that can be done about the car thing? And I'll just have to continue parking in the next street cos businesses decide to use our road as a promo zone!

And while I'm on the subject - why can't people park in ED? They seem scared to get closer than 3 feet to the next car which means there are loads of 'half spaces' and no room to park. Leaving Southwark council with a nice opening to say 'hey, how about a nice CPZ!'

Right - I'll shut up now....

Well, the CPZ would do something about the car thing. The question is whether it's worth a fiver a month to rid yourself of the car thing?! Surely LWL, one may not barrack uncontrolled parking in one breath and then harangue the council for offering a solution in the next? ;-)

At least the LT Beetles are clean, has anyone noticed the 'Man with a van' tramp steamers? Now there's a blight on a sunny day.

I got so irritated by the sign still being outside our flat about two months after we'd completed. I rang Property In at least 3 times and popped in; always to be told 'yes, yes' while I'm sure they rolled their eyes. I rang again (just to let the bee out of my bonnet you understand) and asked them what their policy was regarding signage and I was told me "Ideally we take the sign down as soon as it's been sold ... " at which point I meanly leapt in and asked why they still hadn't taken ours down - it was gone a few days later.

    • I was in Forest Hill Road today, just past the Rye, and noticed there is a dentist next to the Herne (pub) that has NHS signs outside. I've never had any problems getting NHS dental treatment in East Dulwich, and I get regular check ups. I've been to three  different dental practices here over the years, all with NHS treatment. I think the difficulties are in other parts of the country. Malumbu has a good explanation above. I didn't hear the Radio 4 programme, but I'm guessing that a  radio programme is not going to have time to say where you CAN easily get NHS treatment, and is bound to focus on the negatives and the horror stories, otherwise it would be very boring! ETA: Re children's teeth, I think the major issue is not lack of dentists, it is children being given sugary food, drinks and confectionery which rots their teeth. The education of parents needs to be about this, not just about tooth brushing. And in some cases the poor diet may also be due to lack of money for healthy food. Though of course the lack of dentists doesn't help, if  the tooth rotting can't be rectified by fillings or extraction.
    • Well, I hope you like what you see, the hot air, lack of answers and continual blaming things on the last Government and the made up blackhole, I find are nauseating. The man needs to see reality, because I'd guess that if we had a snap election tomorrow and based on the first six months of this parliament, Labour would get trounced. When the election does finally happen and if that isn't before the people rise up and throw this lot out, Labour will not be voted back in for a millennium.
    • Yes thanks that's exactly the choices I get.  I will block and if somehow they find a way back I'll report.
