Guest
Has anyone else noticed the proliferation of yellow beetles around the area owned by the estate agents Ludlow Thompson? The cynic in me is starting to believe that rather than just a way of getting the agents and their customers to properties, they are actually just sneaky agent advertising for the area - especially as one has been parked in my road for 3 and a half weeks now without moving!Thought there were laws against agents and putting up bogus boards - is this a way to get round it? batdog
Yes the way around bogus boards is a "sponsored" VW Beetle. They are smart arent' they.... Mark
by the way, if there's an Estate Agents board outside a property that says Sold or Let (not For Sale or To Let) it should not be outside a property beyond 14 days from the the sale/letting date. If it's longer than that and it annoys you, you can call the estate agent and ask them to take it down, they have to (Town and Country Planning Act). capt_birdseye
Yeah but no but. They put "SOLD" up as soon as an offer is accepted, how are you supposed to know when the sale has gone through and you can start counting your 14 days? Sit twitching the curtains 24/7 to see when removals vans start turning up? Mark
I'd say that when it says "Sold" you can take it that it's sold. If you call them after 14 days and they say "ah ha, but it's not sold" then get them done for false advertising or kick their shins or something. capt_birdseye
Or say, "Oh OK thanks" hang up and then swear at yourself for bottling it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/178-ludlow-thompson-free-advertising/#findComment-2701 Share on other sites
Guest
Humph - so there's nothing that can be done about the car thing? And I'll just have to continue parking in the next street cos businesses decide to use our road as a promo zone! And while I'm on the subject - why can't people park in ED? They seem scared to get closer than 3 feet to the next car which means there are loads of 'half spaces' and no room to park. Leaving Southwark council with a nice opening to say 'hey, how about a nice CPZ!'Right - I'll shut up now.... Huguenot
Well, the CPZ would do something about the car thing. The question is whether it's worth a fiver a month to rid yourself of the car thing?! Surely LWL, one may not barrack uncontrolled parking in one breath and then harangue the council for offering a solution in the next? ;-)At least the LT Beetles are clean, has anyone noticed the 'Man with a van' tramp steamers? Now there's a blight on a sunny day. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/178-ludlow-thompson-free-advertising/#findComment-2704 Share on other sites

capt_birdseye
Just take it down yourself and fling it in the front garden and call them to come and collect it. That's what we did. Polly D
I got so irritated by the sign still being outside our flat about two months after we'd completed. I rang Property In at least 3 times and popped in; always to be told 'yes, yes' while I'm sure they rolled their eyes. I rang again (just to let the bee out of my bonnet you understand) and asked them what their policy was regarding signage and I was told me "Ideally we take the sign down as soon as it's been sold ... " at which point I meanly leapt in and asked why they still hadn't taken ours down - it was gone a few days later. capt_birdseye
You should have ripped it down and flung it through their window. Not that I advocate that sort of thing of course. Mark
...or you should have written "are not as good as " on the sign, and then told them how it's been defaced. Methinks they'd take it down very soon after.
