Woodland Trust Door to Door?

today i've had people knock on my door three times asking for money for the Woodland Trust - two blokes, one of them trying twice.

Is this kind of fundraising legal - and even if it is, what the hell are they doing trying the same house three times in one day?

Sounds well dodgy, lovefilm don't do door to door sales...

Coming round 3 x in one day sounds more like they looking for a quite different opportunity.

yes - two fairly young guys. going round in the day though.

yesterday evening I got a woman telling me she was from lovefilm as well...

I think it's unlikely in the extreme that the Woodland Trust would be sending out people to knock on doors.

But you could always phone them to ask .....

"Thank you for your recent e-mail.

I would like to advise you that we are in fact doing door-to-door

mailings/sign-ups at present and the representatives that are marketing

the service are from LOVEFiLM & genuine."

The Woodland Trust, OTOH, as a collector for charitable purposes, would require a licence from the police or an exemption order before they could lawfully make any door-to-door collection. http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/Publications/cc20.aspx#e6
