Not really, Robert Poste's Child - I think I can probably guess how that would go down. My query wasn't entirely unrelated to my profession however, in that people occasionally come with some pretty unusual ones - so I thought I'd see if anyone in the group could top them. Not that I can tell you what they are, mind...client confidentiality and all that.

For the last few years I've not committed to set resolutions but have resolved to try 2 new things per month.

As tame as trying a new coffee shop (in a quiet month) to doing an abseil or visiting a landmark I don't know (Yorkshire sculpture Park) and everything in between, works for me.

Now if we had an app, posting from the pub at all hours would be easier :)

Don't need an app! I'm posting this from my mobile!

Not sure what the problem is tbh besides the link in my sig, which is on all my posts - pretty much every other self-employed person I know does the same. I've used the business section before and will do so again for any businessy posts, but as I've not tried to sell anyone anything here, people can continue to engage with the post in the light-hearted spirit in which it was intended. Hope that clarifies matters (again) :)

Well, what can I say - I'm interested in people and their motivations and it's as simple as that really...you can choose to believe me or not :)

Back to the topic, good article in the Graun today: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/dec/29/anyone-can-change-any-habit-science-keeping-2018-resolutions

    • A quick Google search found this service in Devon including several large print books and a home delivery service for those that can't get to a library.  Might be worth a look if you haven't already considered this.  Good luck.   https://discover.librariesunlimited.org.uk/our-services
    • Visited Dynamic Wines over the weekend. Great place, and good value!
    • Bit over-stated that.  Fully-paved front drives cause same/worse issues.  The hermetically-sealed, boundary-to-boundary hard surfaces you see all over Dulwich prevent natural rainwater from continuing to nourish the dirt/clay under the house.  Houses around ED have very very shallow foundations which is the root cause, frankly.  I just spent a year renovating a house down to the foundations and they barely exist and the brickwork is easily disturbed by any ground movement. Last time I checked, humans can't breathe their foundations can they?  But most humans require oxygen...  This foundations trope is the go-to bogey man.  Defo not having a go at you Dave, I'm sure you'd prefer more trees to fewer trees, but short-term vs long term decisions must be made.  Choices: Do we want a fully-paved, grey, barren landscape or greenery with all the health & beauty benefits?
    • Hi Sue - yes they are, just checked their website and they've received recent recommendations on here
