Hi N,

If you are interested to learn how to engrave for yourself, we have a weekend course coming up that will introduce you to these skills... It will take some practice before you would be skilled enough to engrave your precious knives, but you might find it satisfying enough to want to perfect the technique and have the confidence to go for it. We have a limited number of free places available for local people...

We have a free weekend opportunity for you to come and explore the art of hand engraving, on 24/25 March, thanks to the generous support of Southwark Adult Learning services.

Do you like to draw? are you interested in calligraphy?

Join us for a 2 day jewellery course to learn the ancient art of decorative hand engraving on metal.

It's a dying art, and if you have an aptitude for it there's a great opportunity for a rewarding and lucrative career in it too! We will teach you how to sharpen and prepare your tools, and how to cut lines and texture the surface of metal using these tools. Working on copper for the course, you will then build confidence to be able to hand engrave on more precious metals in your own time.

This is a weekend course, running Saturday 24 March and Sunday 25 March10-5pm. You will need to attend both days.

Eligibility for a free place:

You must live in Southwark.

You must be 19+ (no upper age limit :)

You must have been living in the UK for at least 3 years, and not be in full time education

You must be able to attend both Saturday and Sunday.

This must be your first course at Flux since September 2017

    • Most charity shops will take rags for textile recycling. I’ve also donated to Christopher’s, Shelter on LL and Scope in Camberwell. The only one I’ve known to refuse is the Oxfam in Herne Hill.
    • We hired Hanson &Co to handle painting, floor sanding and general renovation work before moving into our new home, and we were very happy with the results. Andras and his team were fantastic to work with—professional, reliable, and efficient. We've since reached out to them for additional projects and we highly recommend their work!
    • Lost oyster card in black and green wallet somewhere between the bus stop at ED station, the bus and the train from Denmark Hill to Clapham Junction. Very annoying not last because I love the wallet.
    • I have always taken mine to the main St Christopher's shop, in a bin bag clearly marked "Rags". They have always accepted them. Clean items only, obviously.
