Neighbourhood watch scheme - suggestions..

Do we have any proactive neighbourhood watch schemes in place at present. If so, can someone tell me what their remit is etc.

I am sure there must be countless threads on this over the years but I am well up for volunteering my time to joining some scheme in the hope that a regular presence will have some impact on the ever-rising incidence of crime in ED.

I don't see many coppers on foot in my area these days and I do wonder how much that contributes to the easy- pickings of the scumbag opportunists in our midst. Grrrrr.
