I can see where buggie is coming from

I am qualified to teach diving first aid and we would normally expect it to take more than an hour to teach CPR thoroughly and practice - let alone bleeding and burns and what have you

But something is certainly better than nothing

I'm resurrecting this thread because weaning is looming and I'd like to be able to be confident that I can deal with choking. Are people still interested in doing a course? Jennyh did you have any luck with the Mag? Sounds like it could be a good venue.

Hiya - thanks Yak for resurrecting. I am also very interested, would anyone consider a weekend course (even if there is a long waiting time) as Mr M would also be interested.... I recently heard from a friend who had a course (I guess the same idea or even the same one?) held at the Montpelier, they have a cinema room which might work or could be persuaded if sufficient people buy food & drinks.

Jenny, could you let me know if there are still spaces on the course you organise (or if it has already taken place), otherwise, would anyone be interested if I tried for a weekend one?

    • In an area which (thank goodness) is stuffed with good and acceptable restaurants (East, West and Central Dulwich) Belair would have to be a real destination - hence I suggested the need for a very high quality offering which would encourage visitors to go in search of it. A restaurant next to a station is a very different beast than a country house down a side street. I know about it because I live, and have lived for nearly 40 years, pretty close. And I have gone there on a number of occasions in its different guises. Sometimes with great enjoyment, other times less so. But for a site like that to work it must deliver its promise, which because of the nature and cost of the site will have to be both high-end and not very crowded, which means high prices and probably aiming for at least twice the covers occupation most nights and some lunches. Frankly, it can't live on local trade alone (because there are too many good alternatives) - so it has to build a rep for people to travel there, and again and again.
