Rat in Melbourne grove

I was going down Melbourne Grove this morning on my bike and thought I saw a squirrel crossing the road ahead. But as I got closer i realised it was a rat crossing in front of Callows.

Bit of a shock, it is my first rat sighting since moving to East Dulwich 23 years ago!!

Wind in the Willows - We always called them Water Voles :).

Six feet. I guess it's only to be expected that you'll see them wherever people store or discard food - one of the reasons why the authorities aren't keen on you feeding bread to the ducks. Food recycling bins must be a big temptation to them. A while back I had to speak to the people at the Dulwich Pavilion cafe as the bins out the back were crawling with them even in daytime.
