A few tips on pruning fruit trees. Make the cuts on all crossover branches & allow air to circulate through the centre of the tree using a clean blade. Cut out any diseased or dead branches & try to make the cuts downward facing. When finished, paint the cuts with a pruning paint to avoid disease getting in. With the smaller branches, always cut back to a bud again using clean secateurs. In early spring give the tree a good feed.
