I've got a mug with yummy mummy on it that was bought for me as a mother's day present from a 'tat' shop (by one of my quadruplets). I like it.

I don't know why you lot don't just live and let live. Or should we all just buy the same things from the same shops that are sanctioned by a commitee somewhere and if any one wants to stray from the party line they should be banished to say, Islington or Clapham.

Hey ho, each to their own I say.

jesus, mootoo is great. it sells marimeko, eva solo and other great skando stuff without having to go into town. there is also a great meat board that has prongs and collects the juices when carving up for a very decent price and is dishwasher friendly.

it sells some very good design compared to a lot of the other tat shops in ED. i'd happily see them shut down but mootoo actually stocks some good stuff for people who like both function and form. i am one of those people, jesus hang me before i'm told that design is pointless and only for people with too much money: that's just sad.

What Asset said. And even I was tempted to buy something in there (same as *Bob* as it happens)

Yes it is overpriced tat/maybenottatbutexpensiveanyway - but it's not like we can't get what we need elsewhere is it? Better that than empty shop fronts

Sugar mamma will do well IMHO. The area will support it. Moo too sell Alessi, In Sicily Alessi have many many branches and they are quality products for people that appreciate quality. Moo too are also expanding to the rear it seems if you check out the old garage they had on Frogley Road, no more garage so what that space to see what appears.

Oh and by the way, the proposed new coffee shop on Northcross Road as discussed in a previous thread aint gonna happen.

Is this a bit like the yoofs who wear jeans with the words "Angel", "Princess", "Sexy" etc sequined into the arses? They are guaranteed to be the least angelic, regal and sexy characters you can imagine?

Moo Too is one of the best shops on Lordship Lane - I completely agree with Mamafeelgood. Snorky is bound to approve as he owns the premises! They sell super Italian and Scandi designed homewares and clothes. The shop is run by Maggie who was based on Park Hall Road in West Dulwich (Mad Cow Design) for many years, and she is the best interior designer you are likely to come accross. She is extremely talented and is always keen to advise anyone who wants an opinion or advice. I think that it is a super bonus to have a branch on Lordship Lane - or did you all prefer that dreadful old mobile phone shop or empty shop that was there before.
And if it is another branch of Sugar Mama in Camberwell, they don't sell trickets but clothes and if I recall, they weren't all terribly expensive clothes and went up to larger sizes which makes a change from the usual boutique shops which seem to only stock up to size 12.

Good to have the MooToo herd to the rescue.

Obviously the shop is doing well.. and good for them. But I don't think that makes their stock impervious to criticism, does it?

Generally speaking, I find a lot of modern (ie new) design rather soulless and lacking in imagination. Half of it is uber-shiny (these items are displayed on the futuristic shelf along with the kettle designed by FA Porsche) and the other half are re-issues or designs raided from the last fifty years (these items are displayed on the retro shelf with the Sputnik-esque chandelier).

It's not cheap but it often looks cheap. It costs good money but it isn't worth anything.

Just an opinion.

Indeedy. There are a neighbours' gaffs round my way which have been hit with the 'Mrs Robinson' stick.

Mosaic effect. Had to look that one up. Like it, Like it. I expect Snorky had this effect in mind when he removed a tantalising CV titbit yesterday or the day before. He's a careful man.

Fortunately I know for a fact that half the homes in ED have been hit with said MR stick.. and tinpot musicians like myself are two a penny (my window cleaner alone 'does for' two of my competitors on his round). So I feel my identity is safe.

Moo too is the result of too many people with too little sense.

I cant blame ther Moo too people really for making money 0ut of them - selling expensive knick knacks that have pretty much no use whatsoever or will never be used in anger.

Im sure Reginald Perrin started a smiliar chain of shops some time ago and did rather well out of it

I have said this before, but I know the owner of one of these shops (won't say which), and always remember them saying to me something along the lines of "I sell useless stuff at massive prices to bored women with too much money".

It just made me laugh to think of them laughing at every customer that walked out the door having made a purchase.

right so we should all shop in the few sanctioned shops and we should only purchase functional things. There is obviously no place in this world for ornaments and cushion covers. I'm going to take all the covers of my cushions and throw away any item that is not purely functional and is in any way 'shiny'.

I trust you people who are slagging off these things don't have any cushion covers or tea-light holders or shiny coffee grinders or vases or any such things in your houses.

Actually I've had the same frigging cushion covers for about fifteen years, I might pop to one of the shops in ED and get some NEW ONES!!!!

    • With fibre you are paying for the speed, which is the number, yours is 300 so if you did a lot of gaming, for example, you would want the fastest possible.  If it's just office work or maybe streaming on Netflix you likely won't need as fast, but, if there are a lot of people in your house all doing their own thing on different devices, then faster speeds are better.  I don't rely on my Wi-Fi much other than when I am using my mobile.  I use Ethernet cables to connect up everything, I Have one cable running from my router, along the skirtings and through a hole I drilled in the wall to another room.  I have attached the plusnet speed guide which gives you an idea of how it works.
    • I'd reread what you posted and try to summarise.  It just comes across as a rant.
    • Just shows, to me, once proud to be a citizen of UK.. now.. well if we pay/contribute to services - nhs, police, fire etc and folk who have made this there home - no matter what creed or culture.. for the love c of God, can someone  please explain to me.. how we have working royals who like them or not, have tried and continue to actually support and make a change and then we have Andrew.. who just destroys everything.. not just him, or royalty but his own children..  I had great admiration for The Queen - and respect.. as have a huge number of people.. but.. these old traditions where gosh.. live rent free and can’t get chucked out until I believe 2070? From what I scanned..well he has and continues to have it all.. has to go thru what old rules? Etc.  doubt very much he has even kept the upkeep maintenance up on his abode.. and do the shite keeps on pulling up.. What has Andrew done for UK or for that matter since he was 20?? Do please tell me       Totally off topic, before anyone jumps down my throat.. I just do not get how anyone is proud to be British at this point in time. Whoever is in power, seems to be able to help themselves to the public purse with no redress at all - Covid is a great example of lining of pockets.. Millions  given to Rowanda, so one is led to believe, to help with refugee problem and one can’t get a plane load off!  I simply do not get it at all. Use of food banks in UK growing yearly, homeless as well, nhs, police, fire service etc all on their knees..
    • Have applied the green roof at a number of properties and no issues you are concerned about detected. Have issues with cats defecating in the vicinity, however, they are not selecting the green roof specifically. Use decent compost, slow release fertiliser specific for green roofs, and lay it methodically not leaving blank patches. It looks amazing when cared for and adds value.
