Hello

An opportunity has arisen for you to become more involved with the Dulwich & District NCT branch.

Meeting Details:

Date: Monday 27th November 2017

Time: 2pm

Place: Boulangerie Jade, 145 Lordship Lane, London, SE22 8HX

The Dulwich & District branch covers SE5, SE15, SE21, SE22, SE24 postcodes and the current branch committee has been in place for the past 4 years but many of the members are moving on.? Rather than lose this vital service to the community we would like to invite a new wave of volunteers to join the branch and continue the positive work undertaken by the current team.

Could you spare a few hours a week?? If so, we can find a role for you.? Volunteering is fun, it allows you to use your experience, gain new skills, keep your existing skills and CV up-to-date and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping the NCT make a difference for local parents.

There are numerous roles available to suit every level of commitment;

* Branch coordinator/Chair: who coordinates the work of the branch committee or team, leads and develops the committee or team as a group, and is the principal link between the branch and other parts of NCT

* Treasurer: who provides financial information necessary for the branch committee/team to manage the branch?s finances, keeps the branch?s accounts up to date and prepares annual accounts

* Membership coordinator: who welcomes those getting in touch with the branch (either directly or through other NCT channels) and encourages involvement and membership, keeps in touch with members and encourages renewals

* Parent support coordinator: who coordinates parent support activities and responds to enquiries from local parents, putting them in touch with branch activities and services meeting their needs

* PSA link: who is the link between the branch committee and the Parent Services Administrator (PSA), who books parents on to antenatal and early days courses.

* Nearly New Sale Coordinator: who puts together a team and works with them to organise our Nearly New Sales.? There is a guide to assist in this - The Branch Guide To Nearly New Sales

* Newsletter Editor: who gathers interesting articles and edits them into our local bulletin for members

* Minute Taker: who helps the chair/coordinator with the administration of team meetings and takes a note of actions

* Bumps and Babes Supporter: who works with the Parent Support Coordinator to run a Bumps & Babies group

* Branch Open House Host: who hosts a local tea group

* Fundraising Coordinator: who puts together a fundraising team, works with the team to devise a fundraising plan and organises the events ? there are lots of guides to help with this, for example The Branch Guide To Planning Our Fundraising. We need to raise money for our local activities and make out contribution to the wider work of the NCT.

* Advertising Coordinator: who works with companies/individuals offering services of interest to our membership and arranges goody bag advertising

* Publicity Officer: who develops relationships with the local media, writes and places press releases and helps publicise the local NCT

* Branch Webmaster: who develops and keeps up to date our branch pages on www.nct.org.uk so parents know who we are and how to access our activities (again there is a Branch Guide to help you do this)

* General Volunteer: who assists on an ad-hoc basis at events

So, are you interested in meeting people, working in a team, helping new parents get established in their new role? Do you have a background in administration, customer services, finance or accounting, information technology or databases, copywriting, marketing, the media or the web? Or would you like to develop some of these skills? If so, there is definitely a role for you!? And a friend - all the roles can be organised as role-shares.

We hope that you will be able to attend the meeting to find out more and to join the new team. We would be grateful if you could let us know in advance if you are likely to be attending the meeting.? Also, if you are interested in volunteering but are unable to attend please contact Natalie on [email protected] or 07856672072.

?

Thank you for reading this and look forward to seeing you on 27th November!

NCT:

NCT is the UK?s largest parent charity. Each year the charity supports millions of parents through their first 1,000 days, offering expert information and trusted practical and emotional support through its website, helpline, the nationwide network of over 300 local branches, antenatal and postnatal classes, breastfeeding counselling and peer support schemes. The majority of our services are run by volunteers in our branch structure. In order for parent to parent services to happen need volunteers.

    • Round-robin letter received this week regarding this. Main points are that the number of new homes is being reduced from 877 to 867. OK, not much change there, but.... "A reduction in the number of affordable homes from 270 (35% by habitable room) to 77 (12% by habitable room)" That's a 72% reduction in the number of affordable homes. I don't know a lot about this kind of thing, but it seems that just 77 affordable homes in a development of 867 is a massive pee-take in an area where a 1-bed flat is £400K+ if it isn't "affordable." If you're interested, the application can be viewed at https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/ ref 24/AP/2074 and there's a lot of objections to the reduction in affordable homes. The drop-in sessions are Weds 26th Feb (Peckham Library) and Mon 3rd March (All Saints Church) at 3pm. Full details attached. 24_AP_2074-FILE_COPY_-_NEIGHBOUR_NOTIFICATION_LIST-4005193.pdf
    • I noticed 4 gone in a short stretch of Bellenden Road alone this weekend. I had no idea it was to do with the tech and thought that it was a retro Beastie Boys thing. Showing my age. Sorry I can only find a Facebook link if you are too young to remember this: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=578367166664170 Totally agree that it's a bad design flaw, and I bet the actual cost of the parts to VW is minimal so they could easily cough up some of the replacement costs. It's depressing that someone can go along a street popping these things off cars with very little worry about being prosecuted.
    • Hello all, we are looking for a local child friendly dentist after deciding our old dentist doesn’t have the nack for kids, Suggestions appreciated
    • Hello there!  my husband and I live in the area and would love to make a connection. Have you had any other responses? I imagine some people might be worried to put that information online at this moment in time.  Feel free to dm me 🙂
