womanofdulwich
Has anyone else been caught out with the 20 mph camera? I must admit I was probably exceeding 20 mph, but not by much. I feel bad that in 25 years of driving in London I have never seen any signs , I wondered if anyone has successfully been let off? 3 points for doing 25 mph seems steep .Any assistance welcome. Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17257-tower-bridge-rd-speed-limit-fine/ Share on other sites
Marmora Man
Can you not apply for a speed awareness course as an alternative to racking up points. Not sure if this is something you can ask for - or whether it has to be offered formally as an alternative? trizza
Presume you were actually done on Tower Bridge (that's the only bit of TBR that I understand is a 20pmh zone). I think there are average speed cameras on the bridge and there is a fairly prominent 20mph sign on the approach. Sorry, but I think you chances of success at an appeal are practically nil.I think you were unlucky. The traffic is usually too bad to go over 20mph.If you just have 3 points it shouldn't really have an impact on your insurance etc. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17257-tower-bridge-rd-speed-limit-fine/#findComment-436002 Share on other sites
ratty
3 points for me put my insurance u pa hell of a lot. However, the speed awareness course was even more costly in the short term. 35 in a 30 zone :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/17257-tower-bridge-rd-speed-limit-fine/#findComment-436021 Share on other sites

trizza
Doh. Unlucky womanofdulwich. Think the restriction is there to protect the bridge (although the lanes are v narrow too). 3 points had no impact on my insurance. DulwichFox
Tower Bridge has been 20 MPH since at least the 70's A work colleague of mine back then was stopped by Police on his Scooter which had many mirrors When asked by police why did he think he had been stopped? He said dont know. Speeding said the copper. No said my colleage. I saw you in my mirrors, I made sure I kept my speed just under 30 MPH Your nicked said the copper. It's a 20 MPH over the Bridge The 20 MPH signs are very clear. Loz
If you take the speed limiting course, do you still have to declare the infringement to insurers? womanofdulwich
The speed awareness course was really good, I come away a better person, although all my journeys will now probably take at least 10% longer. mockney piers
I've never been done there because I've never been in a position to do more than about 2 mph, and generally avoid at all costs. Are there speed cameras in Rotherhithe tunnel which is also 20 mph?
