I've never done this before but I just wanted to write a quick note. I am a 27 year old women and was attacked on Oglander Road early one evening last week by three young girls carrying a weapon. The matter is now with the police but I just wanted to highlight the fact that despite my cries for help, no one called the police or intervened. I know it's scary but we really do need to stick together if we want to maintain ED as an area with a strong community spirit.

Here. Here.

Blue just to echo others' sentiments. Glad you're ok, there really is no excuse.

Fractionater - without trying to hijack the thread there are different forms of rap music so please don't label an entire genre. Also, in my yoof I listened to stuff far worse than what I hear being played nowadays however it didn't suddenly make into an OG (Original Gangster). The issues are a bit more complex than that but often relate to discipline and supervision of one's own children. occassiolly they are sometimes just nasty so and so's.

Blue hope you get better soon.

I am really glad this thread has been started.

These three girls seem to be causing a great deal of trouble in ED and I think it is really important we all keep our eyes peeled.

It does concern me because I have always felt so comfortable walking around ED after dark. I am not too sure how comfortable I would feel with my sister doing then same heaving heard Blue's story.

there's nothing to suggest that they were the same girls - this was three girls, one black two asians, the other group was four black - so one in common at most, based on the fact that she was a girl and black

so what are we keeping our eyes peeled for - black and asian girls?

blue - i am very sorry that this incident occurred, i hope that you do not have to suffer any similar misfortune in the future

Pk -

Please don't use my comments as a way of suggesting racism - very offensive and narrow minded indeed.

As I am sure anyone else on this thread can understand, I was suggesting one keep their eyes peeled for ANY groups looking suspicious - black, white, yellow, green, blue, male or female!

not suggesting racism, just that it doesn't seem that these girls are the same girls as those involved in the instance on north cross road - (which it does seem that you and others on the thread were suggesting)

Blue? Blue was the victim, you fool!

Just caught this so it feels way to late too add to the chorus of "glad you're oks" - but I am and also think you've acted really well about the hole situation

(and I so know what fractionater means - even if it's wrong and that)

    • Seems a bit off.  If two countries have a majority of dumbos why do we get to offload ours? Instead of us taking in theirs
    • So to enable people to experience 3 days of 'joy', our family has to endure two weeks of 7 days a week, 12 hours a day construction noise around 50m from our front window. That's HGVs driving up & down the road, constant reversing beeps from fork lifts & tractors, scaffolding poles crashing, pneumatic wrenches rattling, shouting etc etc. from 8am to 8pm. Every day. Even Sundays. Do you have all that near your house? Then there's the anti social behaviour during the festival, right outside our home - minicabs arriving, punters jumping out, chucking bottles and cans on the floor, having a quick p*ss against the wall, then off to the festival to have their 'joy'. Again & again, all afternoon & evening. For the whole bank holiday weekend. Guys having nitrous oxide parties in their cars, right outside our home at midnight, 1am.  Do you have all that near your house?  And then there's the strike afterwards, more construction noise for another week - 8am to 8pm, every day - then they disappear, leaving the park covered in fag butts, bottle tops, ring pulls, cable ties, cellophane filter tip tubes, disposable vapes, all usually trampled into the ground so that they are virtually impossible to remove. And then several months for the grass to almost recover enough for people to use again, except by then the summer is long gone.  Do you really think a "chill pill" is going to miraculously resolve all this? Please, have some empathy for people who are really impacted by this event. I've nothing against festivals, but they need to be located in a suitable space, and a small public park close to residential homes isn't it.
    • Does anyone have a paper shredder they no longer need? I gave mine away thinking I could use the soaking method, but then found it isn't suitable for large quantities of paper, for various reasons. The Library of Things is supposed to have one for hire, but it's been "coming soon" for weeks.
    • I was quite bemused as to why the leaves on my black bamboo were apparently dying and it  had weird things apparently growing on it. Then I came across this: https://inspectaslr.co.uk/black-bamboo-flowering-a-rare-worldwide-phenomenon-spotted-by-inspectas/ I was fond of my bamboo, which has grown in my garden for years, and the sparrows liked to perch and swing on it, too. Has anyone else locally had this happen? Presumably anybody with a black bamboo. Looking on the bright side,  I will be left with a lot of useful bean poles.
