Yet another maternal guilt trip, I have just found out that high chairs without foot rests are not great for posture and supporting lower back. Yes, seems obvious to me too now, but anyhow we were blinded by the Ikea Antilop price tag. I am strongly considering buying a Stoke Tripp Trapp as it seems that it will be plenty of use even though my son is already 25 months. I know there has been a recent thread on whether they are worth it, but my question is more about which accessories you need for a toddler - do we simply buy a chair and a harness? And would our trusty Mothercare reins do the job as well? Lastly, if anyone has one and wants to sell it, do please shout!

Thank you in advance.

when we bought our TT chair our son was 6 months. We bought all of the accessories before realising that you can only use either the harness or the plastic barrier. So we used the plastic barrier with the cushioned thing for ages. I'm afraid I can't remember when we stopped using the barrier, but it was probably at about 2 1/2 or 3 years, once he was too big to squash into it!

I definitely think the chair was worth the money, it's so strong and they can use it for ages. Great if you can pick up a cheaper one second-hand....

I definitely think they're worth it. Our eldest is still in hers and she's pushing 7 years old. She can use a normal chair of course, but the Tripp Trapp is still more comfortable for her and gets her to a better height at the table.

We use the straps for our 2.5yo. We could probably get away without them but they do tend to calm his wriggliness (if that's a word) and keep him in there for slightly longer than the time it takes him to cram his fish fingers in. (He likes to eat fast and get back to his toy cars as soon as he can.) Definitely good if you want a chance to wipe your toddler before they abscond.

We're using both! The harness attaches to the sides of the seat whereas the plastic baby set attaches to the backrest and the front of the seat. Maybe they've changed the design?

Anyway, our harness is a Tripp Trapp one. I don't think you can use Mothercare reins because Tripp Trapp harness comes with the bits you need to attach the harness to the seat. An annoying trick because it ends up quite expensive. Maybe parents more savvy than me will have worked out a way of using a standard harness though!

    • How do you know it's madness unless you know what they plan to replace its services  with? And isn't Mount Pleasant a Royal Mail sorting office? If so, that's nothing to do with counters.  Royal Mail is a completely separate - and privately owned - business.
    • I think you will find they are investigating potentially illegal comments, which may or may not be "hurtful" . And to the best of my knowledge, most of  the demos which "seem to be happening every weekend" are attended by people who do not want to just stand by and watch whilst thousands of innocent people just like you - except they happen to live elsewhere - are being illegally slaughtered. You think there's no possible link between "non-crime hate speech" between kids in school and one school kid later stabbing another school kid, then?
    • I'd suggest using a Faraday pouch . Such as 2x Car Key Signal Blocker Faraday Pouch Police are too busy investigating "Non-crime hate speech" such as between kids in school.
    • Police won’t be interested as they are to busy investigating hurtful comments people have written on internet and demos which seem to be happening every weekend, well done for reporting tho and giving us the heads up to be careful 👍
