sandyman
Was in lounge ten minutes ago and saw red mail van outside - assumed they were delivering nearby. Walked out of lounge and "nobody-in" card left on doormat. There is no way they rang the bell or I would have heard it.Anybody else had this problem? DulwichFox
Were you expecting a Delivery No --- Ignore card. Yes --- Follow any instructions on card. Check Doorbell is working.. Sue
Yes, complain to Royal Mail, no point complaining on here! It's not just Royal Mail, it's all of them.Mostly they don't bother to ring the bell, they flap the letterbox a bit in a half-hearted sort of way.In one case the bell did ring, I went to answer it and got there to see the van driving off and a parcel dumped on my wall (not even on the mat) by somebody who couldn't even have known I was in. JohnL
Yet when I work from home I get 2 or 3 ringing to leave my neighbours parcels - how do they know I'm in (I'm not that noisy).I then end up being delivery boy if they don't pop over before I go out :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/171808-postie-not-ringing-bell/#findComment-1188434 Share on other sites

A WFH neighbour is a very handy thing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/171808-postie-not-ringing-bell/#findComment-1188443 Share on other sites

Loz
I had an email from Amazon a few weeks ago, saying "we'd tried to deliver, but no one was in". As the delivery address was a business, there was someone in and available all day. I assumed the driver decided it was time to knock off and just marked everyone as out.But to the OP, you would probably find that, had you actually seen the postie, he probably didn't have your parcel anyway... just the card. ianr
I had one from RM for a parcel last Friday, but couldn't swear for certain that the bell wasn't rung, given that it was timed at 7.34 am. But I did notice that the postie's name/id part had just a slightly diagonal dash in it. I've no idea if that's the identifier used by one particular postie, or just an anonymous dash. What's on yours? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/171808-postie-not-ringing-bell/#findComment-1188476 Share on other sites
singalto
I was once at my son's house when the postie left a card through his letter box. I rushed out and caught him asking why he hadn't rung the bell. He said he didn't actually have the parcel with him, just a card to say it was at the Highshore road office! Abe_froeman
Isnt that defruading the sender who presumably paid for it to actually be delivered to the specified address?
