Nigello
Still would like a Tube station, though. I'd have loved one at Peckham Rye (the Rye itself) or at Camberwell, at the very least, but it was not to be. Our transport is not great - at best it is a 6.5/10. Jennys
It reads like the journalist who wrote it has never visited. But I am probably wrong there. rendelharris
I suspect they paid a flying visit and never got too far from ED station - I notice our road is on the pictures, it's a lovely road but not (despite my loyalty, I love it) maybe the best road in ED - but it is very near the station! Sue
Some years back, I can't remember the exact details but a journalist wrote an article basically dissing East Dulwich, and had clearly not even made it as far from the station as Lordship Lane :))I'm sure someone on here will remember better than me! Mick Mac
Cant be the case this time - the article had photos of people working in Mons, which is new, and what I believe to be current staff in Palmerston and Moxons (with the cinema clearly visible in the background) https://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/area-guides/southwark-borough/east-dulwich/living-in-east-dulwich-area-guide-to-homes-schools-and-transport-links-a114876.html#gallerysuch a bunch of sceptics I have never seen the like of.... ;) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/171752-were-in-es-homes-property/#findComment-1188457 Share on other sites

mikeb
Thanks Mark, fascinating to see that rents haven't really shifted much but house prices have apparently increased by 70%+. Or alternatively rental yields fallen from 5.6% to 3%. Mick Mac
I think most people feel rents have increased in the last 6 years. I'd say the 2011 rents shown above look a bit on the high side Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/171752-were-in-es-homes-property/#findComment-1188654 Share on other sites

Angharad_L
LOL, my rent has gone up every single year I've been in ED... about six times! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/171752-were-in-es-homes-property/#findComment-1188775 Share on other sites
mikeb
Angharad - If I were a rapacious landlord (and I'm not a landlord at all!) then I would try to increase rents just a little less than would cause my tenant to move out. So it's possible that, while your rents have been increasing each year, if you moved out then the landlord would have to lower rents to re-let it. Angharad_L
Not the case... have been in three separate flats in Dulwich, all with yearly rent rises. After moving out of one flat, it went up by several hundred quid a month for the new tenants... then the same with the other flat... who then had to lower their price back a little to get new tenants in...
