Looking for something a bit different (and cheap!)as a venue for an office pre-Xmas meal. The firm is architects and designers, based near London bridge so ideally something near there or round here would be fine too. It doesn't necessarily have to be a traditional sit down meal and we don't want anything too formal and stuffy, but somewhere we can chat and still get something to eat.We know most of the regular places in SE22 and also around Bankside / Borough market but thought there may be pop ups happening or something like that. Any ideas?

City Cruises based at Westminster Bridge - we had a 3 course meal with wine whilst cruising along the Thames. Seemed expensive at first but for the length of the cruise and quality of food it was a good bargain. Great seeing all the festive lights along the river.

They also have a small disco after the meal is served which some of our team were delighted with.

Try La Scala near East Dulwich station. The have a series of evening themed events going on until Christmas and they're very reasonable priced. They've got events like 'soup and wine', 'cheese and wine tasting', 'chestnuts and drinks'...check their Instagram or facebook page, they're called La Scala coffee house :)

end of days

thanks for the suggestions - so far my favourite is Brixton Prison - will definitely go there and to some of the other ones recommended soon even if not the Xmas meal- (I don't get the final say as I don't actually work in their office!

Keep the ideas coming in, the more unusual the better.

I can only second La Scala near the train station. I'm also looking for a nice place for my office peeps to go to and had a lovely chat with the cafe owner just last week about it. Depending on how many people you are (we are around 25), you can have the whole place, which is a great option for us as it's just a bit more intimate that way (and you know how it can get quite loud during the Christmas meals!!) ;-) We are probably gonna book a night of cheese tasting. It has been described to us as a "meal made of cheeses and wine" - I think you get to taste 10 cheeses and 10 wines and the price is ridiculously good. Basically the lady said she can pretty much cater to what we want drinks-wise (I do need my Aperol Spritz!) and I personally also like the idea of supporting a small local business. Had no idea you can book them for these events, so I am glad I got chatting to her.

let us know what you go for eventually!

    • Thank you. Yes we scanned him last time, he is neutered & chipped. We asked neighbours who were feeding him to keep him in as, owner said she wasn't back till following day. That night whilst he was kept in, Gladys came back. The owner lives on a street who's garden  backs onto my friends garden. We asked neighbour that kept him in for night, to not feed him anymore. The owner said not long after she got him, he went out January, never went back till December! I did say so you don't want the cat, she said yes she does but she can't lock him in. I suggested she leaflet all houses who's back gardens back onto hers, to say to stop feeding him. She didn't do it. So until people stop feeding him, he will be a problem as he obviously doesn't want to go home and all the time she never saw him, there was no posters up looking for him, so it's one of those situations! He is a beautiful fluffy black and white and is enormous. Don't know what the solution would be if owner not bothered. Celia hammond overflowing, even kitten season was early this year. Can't take a owned cat though I'm sure he isn't happy. I'm hoping Gladys and Doris will go back home if he isn't loitering. Yes their owner does spray him with water but has little impact. It is a real problem and a worry that they are too frightened to go home and may travel further away. That is the real worry. Will keep post updated.
    • Hi, I’m looking for a small garden table and 2 chairs used but in good condition, ideally one you’d like to get rid of 😊 Chairs need to be sturdy so that she can sit on these safely!  Thanks in advance for her!
    • Is what true? That the student units part of this development that hasn't yet been built is going to fall vacant because there's such a collapse in the number of students in London that they can't rent the units out, and then the Labour government is going to appropriate them to house them asylum seekers? Is that what you're asking is true?
